A new medical classic

An eye-opener for sure!
This is a must-read for everyone, for sure—especially politicians and college students who want to be doctors, researchers, or politicians. I want to say that these authors are right on everything they are doing--the only possible solution is to press on the government so that they ban these toxic chemicals AND, to ensure this is also done all over the world. We all share this planet, let's protect it. Amazing the stuff we deal with that is actually killing us---but, just as the current issue with the ICE versus EVs---in which, it is a no-brainer to see that ICE cars are indeed killing us (literally) and our environment, but somehow, companies are still building and selling them. Need to stop! I really like the numbers presentation and the fact that we are not investing more, either money or time trying to get to the root cause and prevent PD, not just treat it. I already tried one of the PD Apps--will see that my wife uses it so that she can track her symptoms and how mediation is helping or not. Very good job on explaining where we are--thank you Drs. Anyhow--you all need to read this book too. Go get it, read it, and let us have your two cents about its content.

An unpleasant book to read but…
One that needs to be read by a lot more people. Kind of a history of Parkinson's .…you'll learn a lot about it. I didn't know that it's really not an "old" problem, and it's getting worse, more common. Quite a bit of treatment discussion. I can believe that exposure to chemicals is a major cause, but I'd never seen that in print before, it's here. I recognized some of the medication names, and learned more about them. Big section of "Call to action" stuff, lots of footnotes and acknowledgements. Worth having if you or someone you know has Parkinson's.

A review worth your time
I am a 72 year old retired internist diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 2 1/2 years ago. My reading of typical medical literature was depressing because it focused mostly on medications that did not influence disease progression. I found that my exercise program more positively influenced my clinical status and brightened my outlook. Group PT also provided a supportive community that encouraged me to be more active. Ending Parkinson’s captured this approach in a well written, well researched book written by knowledgeable practical neurologists that incorporate a thorough dicussion of the etiology of the disease at the beginning and 25 things one can do at the end of the book. It also incorporates physical therapy and exercise as an integral partner in the therapeutic approach. This is the discussion and information I have been waiting for. I recommend this book for concerned patients and care givers interested in a practical approach to confronting a complex often scary coNdition. Of note, the authors are donating proceeds of the book to Parkinson’s research and are offering webinars in April to share their expertise with the public and allow patients to ask questions oF these caring, most dedicated experts.

Compelling call to action on how to eliminate PD before it becomes another pandemic. A must read!
This is a absolute must read, whether or not you have or know someone with Parkinson’s. Dr. Dorsey and his co-authors make a clear and convincing case that we have another pandemic coming around the corner - one that is entirely preventable - and that the time for action is NOW. The book sets the stage is by telling the story of Parkinson’s Disease, which first reared its head in London during the height of the Industrial Revolution, and identifies the causes of most instances of Parkinson’s DIsease. The authors, which are four world renowned Parkinson’s Disease researches, use real life stories of people currently impacted by Parkinson’s, describing the personal, family and economic devastation Parkinson’s leaves in its wake. The book makes a clear, convincing and compelling case that as a society we must take action to eliminate certain pesticides, solvents and minimize head trauma to reduce and end Parkinson’s DIsease. The authors identify a practical plan that can and must be implemented if we want to end Parkinson’s Disease. If you feel helpless watching while the world struggles with COVID-19, this book will inspire you to take an active role in ending the fast approaching neurological pandemic that is Parkinson’s Disease.
