Q: I want to use this in beer brewing. Has anyone had issues with the hot wort using this pump?

Not food safe, so don't use it for making beer. The materials are nylon, ferrite and brass. The pump shaft is an unknown material with what appears to be a ceramic coating that wears off fairly quickly exposing the base metal. I'm on my 3rd one of these for a hot water recirculating loop and they seem to last about 12-14 months in this setting. What has worn out the first two was the ferrite core at the base of the pump came lose from the shaft so it can't spin the impeller but instead just spin in the housing itself. Hope this helps. I am satisfied with them for the price and cheap operation

Q: How do you prime the pump?

It is not a self-prime pump. There is no suction height of this pump. You need to put the pump in water or install the pump under water level when using.
