This is a good collection of stories from the Numer 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Alexander McCall Smith writes very descriptive lyrics of the attitudes , scenery, and personalities in the stories. It makes good bedtime reading.

Wonderful series. Keeps you spellbound.

I’m addicted to these books. They’re charming, interesting, entertaining, often hilarious, and sometimes sad. Mr. McCall Smith paints vivid pictures of the characters, customs, and locations of Botswana with words. Having been born in Southern Rhodesia (current Zimbabwe & neighbor of Botswana (formerly Bechuanaland, British Protectorate)) and living there for 17 years, you can tell he has a love of that part of the world. Don’t expect shootouts and car chases, but you won’t be bored. Where else do you have detective stories that include king cobras under the desk, black mambas in the yard, and the possibility of lions or leopards (or giraffes)?

Love the detective work and history as far as Botswana is concerned.

A great series! I bought the books and loan them out to friends. Hilarious page turner....

Smith writes very well, clearly cares about his characters, and manages to avoid repeating the situations by which each one is challenged. As the series progresses, it would have been more helpful had he provided an introduction to each volume, establishing who each character is, rather than wasting space in a new story re-establishing what developed earlier in the series. Still, an enjoyable way to pass the hours on an airplane.

I was so excited when I find this box set at such a great price. It came so quickly too!
