Amazing instrument for the price
I purchased this Trumpet for my son who was starting his journey into music at the start of the school year. We haven't completed a full semester yet. But already I can tell you everyone that's seen this horn has been surprised. It's built well, handily withstood the abuse of an elementary student. There are no points on the horn that feel week or soft. It sounds great. And while I'm not qualified to rate this instrument on a professional scale, the teachers involved with my son's education all have nothing but good things to say as well. All for a price that was about the same as a used horn elsewhere. My wife is involved in the local Band Booster, she's been recommending Jean Paul instruments to any parents she can reach as a result. I've had a long personal conversation with the individual that handles warranties. And I'm happy to report even the business practices internally are solid. Support this small business folks, this is the real deal. A good family providing good instruments for a good price. *Original Review: October 6, 2018 *Updated Review: January 13, 2021 This trumpet still looks brand new, still functions brand new, and it's been beaten up by my son for 2 years and 4 months. This is a perfect student horn!

Highly recommended
I was a music major 50 years ago and decided to start playing again. So I bought a Mendini By Cecilio. It was cheap and good enough to learn on. But the valves started getting worse and worse, and I could tell the sound wasn't so good. So I found this one on sale for less than $400. It's as different as night and day. I can hit notes that I thought were out of range. The valves are so smooth it took me a while to get used to them. The third valve slide actually worked right out of the box, and notes using the third valve sound better than the Mendini even without using the slide. The intonation is superb. You can feel it resonate through your hands. You can go from a low register and reach up and grab high notes easily. At times the notes are smooth as a tenor sax. I had wondered why my old horn sounded so bad compared to anyone elses. I thought it must be me. It wasn't. The Mendini got me to a higher level, but compared to the Jean Paul it's just a toy. I've always wanted a Yamaha, or maybe a Bach, but I don't think either would be much better than this Jean Paul. And I still feel the same two weeks later.

Awesome value
This instrument is a surprisingly great horn! I went over it with a fine tooth comb and found it to be of high quality. The price is shockingly low.

Quality student trumpet
I bought this for my son over a year ago to replace a loaner that was in dire need of attention. The trumpet arrived on time and free of defects. It looked impressive when we unpacked it and felt like a quality piece of hardware. The following comments come directly from my son who plays it daily. Pros. The valves move freely, oil doesn't drip out of valves, it has a good sound, and its easy to tune. Cons. The Velcro on the case handle wears out quickly and the handle likes to get caught in zipper. This is a minor inconvenience and in no way hinders it from doing its job of protecting the trumpet during daily trip to and from school. All in all I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend this instrument to parents looking to provide their beginning to intermediate level child with a quality instrument to play. I believe this trumpet will last him through high school. Disclaimer: I am not a brass instrument player myself. This review is based on my judgment of quality and the positive reviews from my son and those who play with him. The case flaws is what kept it from being a 5 star review. I would buy another one if needed and currently considering a Jean Paul Trombone.

Jean Paul trumpet a good value
I’ve been playing this trumpet for about 5 months now. I have enjoyed the instrument—it looks and sounds good. The pistons operate well with minimal oiling. Good price, too. The only complaint is that one of the piston buttons fell off when it was two weeks old. I reattached it with super glue and it has stayed on since then. Update: After a year, I still enjoy this instrument. It does have the occasional problem of Chinese instruments—if it sits for a couple of weeks, a valve might be stick. But with some oil, it’s good to go. I bought the Jean Paul TR-860 professional trumpet when it first came out. It’s a more beautiful instrument with better sound and playability. And at just under $700, a good buy. Having said that, I still play the 430 when I’m on the road. I have recommended the 430 to a Junior High Band Director friend for his students. He is now seeing how the instrument ‘survives’ in the hands of kids that age.

For he Money a Really Nice Trumpet
I just received my trumpet. I had not played trumpet in decades but my son and granddaughter play. I was spurred on to re-learn so that we could record a 3 generation set of music as a legacy. First, the trumpet was well packaged and arrived as advertised and in short order. The fit and finish were excellent in my opinion but the most important item was a nice bright sound. For me playing this trumpet was similar to riding a bike, you don’t forget. So very pleased with the sound, the case it came in , the overall quality finish, and the price. Well worth the money!

I haven't played since High School, 40 years ago. So just getting my chops back in shape. I decided to buy this after being inspired by a review on Amazon. Nice sounding. Easy to play. Vavles are smooth as heck. Beautiful too. Reminds me of the silver Yamaha trumpet I had in High School, but I think this Jean Paul is better. I think it is worth every penny. I got it on a one year payment plan, so only paying $50/month and no interest, which makes it even more attractive.

We've bought this as a replacement for Yamaha trumpet we've rented from school, it's now been some time and I can say it's a great value, valves don't stick, overall we're happy with the purchase. The instrument sounds really nice, also it has quite a few adjustments and my daughter adjusted it so it's easier to hold.
