What crate size is recommended for an adult Samoyed?

We have 2 adult Samoyeds. We buy the 42 inch size for them. We tried the 36 inch, but there just wasn’t room for them to lay down. Hope this helps!

Appropriate crate size is dependent on the size and TYPE of dog you have. For example, I have Alaskan Malamutes. They prefer a closed in den like feel to a large crate. They usually sleep curled up or at some messed up weird angle on their back. Basically, they look like a Picasso when they're on their backs. So, when I put my girl in a 42 inch crate, she is either curled in a corner or laying on her back with her head twisted to the side ad some odd angle. Either way there is usually 10-12 inches of space. You do want a crate that they can stand and turn around in. My girl can stand fine in 36 inch crates, but my male is still too big for the 42.... luckily I don't usually have to crate him.

I found the crate chart to be inaccurate so I used this information to figure out which size crate to get for my puppy miniature schnauzer: http://www.lgd.org/library/measure.htm . What you need to understand is that HEIGHT of a dog is not measured from the top of the head when standing to the floor. The measure is from the base of the neck down to the floor. This means you need to consider head room for an adult dog when picking your crate/kennel size. You can go online and look at your breed's male size. Pick the largest size and then add another 6 inches at least. This will determine the height your kennel needs to be in order for the dog to stand and turn around easily within the crate. Our male miniature schnauzer could be 14 inches in height from the base of the neck to the floor. If I add 6" to that I need at least a crate that is 20" in height. With Midwest that meant a crate that was for a dog 11-25 lbs that measured 24"L x 18"W x 21"H models: LS-1624LS-1624DDLS-1624ULReplaced by 724UPWe also purchased an extra partition so that we could reduce the size of the crate we bought for our upstairs bedroom so it could be used with the side door while our dog is a puppy. Partitions allow you to reduce the size of the kennel/crate so the puppy will not eliminate in his bed. At 25 pounds your dog could buy the same as we did or the next size up. Go by the maximum height of your dog however....not just the weight.

What's the difference between the Life Stages and the iCrate model?

Check the dimensions carefully..As I recall the Life Stages is about 2" taller than the iCrate (27" vs 25") and that makes it a little heavier..Construction is very similar overall....
