I love this mixer
I love this mixer! Should have purchased it sooner!! But I wanted to thoroughly research different brands so took my time and waited to decide. Also the cost definitely gave me 'pause'. However, now that I have used this mixer a number of times in different applications I can totally recommend it (have owned it 6 weeks). The mixer runs smoothly and quietly. It handles large quantities of ingredients easily - I have made bread dough for 3 loaves (about 9 C. flour). The mixer kneaded a biga/ ciabatta recipe for 10 minutes on speed 2 without overheating or stalling. I was unsure a large size bowl/mixer would work well when using a small quantity of ingredients. Not a problem - prepared a small-batch 'cake mix' cookies and the results were as great as when working with larger and stiffer batters (like chocolate chip cookies, a batch using 6 C. of flour). I have not needed to use the splatter guard/shield so far. The start-up speed is slow enough that I have not experienced any flour 'poofing' or other splatters outside the bowl. I see no need for a beater with a scraper -- the beater that comes with the mixer is fine. I do stop the mixer a couple times and use a large 'plate scraper'/spatula to scrape down the sides and under the hook or beater. That has been sufficient and is not difficult to do even w. the beater/hook in place. There is the 'one' big complaint -- the difficulty attaching the bowl to the mixer!! At first expect it to be difficult. After several uses it seems to 'loosen up'. Also when attaching the bowl I found that placing it on the pins/pegs first and then using 2 hands on either side of the back of the bowl to push down each side at the same time does work. Seems like a flimsy piece of metal in the back to slide bowl into and makes a terrible racket so hope that part of the mixer lasts! That appears to be the only 'weak link' in an otherwise powerful mixer. If you are uncertain about spending this much on a kitchen mixer, I can say that the operating quality of this mixer is worth it! Also glad I bought the large 7 quart model since it works equally well with large or small quantities of ingredients.

I love it. I was worried about buying a refurbished ...
I owned a 4.5 qt. Kitchenaid before and upgraded to the 7 qt. I love it. I was worried about buying a refurbished mixer but it looks brand new and works perfectly--no scratches, all attachments look perfect. Much quieter than my 4.5 (which was 25 years old and in perfect working order). I didn't see anything on the product description that said the mixer would be shipped by Fedex and require a signature. If I had known that I would have had it shipped to my work address. I finally had to chase it down after missing the delivery a few times because I was at work. It would be helpful to note that the shipment requires a signature.

A wonderful piece of equipment to have in your kitchen
I got this mixer to replace my 30 year old 5 quart unit, that was still working. With the 7 quart version. What’s nice it’s got the DC motor and it’s a lot quieter than the normal version. It’s one of two mixers I have on my shelf. it’s hard to go wrong with the KitchenAid. in case you interested, my other mixer is a Swedish made Ankarsrum Mixer

Very good mixer
The mixer worked as I hoped it would. It was able to easily mix up a batch of “breakfast cookies” which is a very thick dough with 2 kinds of flour, rolled oats, nuts, seeds and dried fruit. It didn’t overheat. My older KitchenAid mixer had difficulty with the thick, heavy dough and would get quite warm. It has a slower speed than the older mixer which is very nice for adding flour so it doesn’t fly all over.

Received the product and when I put a load on the machine while kneading dough I to experienced the clicking noise, only under a load of dough, never under normal mixing. I immediately called KA and the agent said they have no knowledge of ever hearing that this model having a clicking noise and she asked if i want a new machine sent out. I said sure. Received the new replacement and same clicking noise. Hey, im not picky, the clicking noise is not annoying, its not very loud. The Machine works fabulous other than a clicking sound under heavy dough load so im happy and knowing KA will quickly send a replacement anytime without question makes me very happy and comfortable. The machine produces some of the best kneaded dough and the best looking loaves I have ever made so Im very happy with this purchase and with KA customer service. I just wished we as the customer could speak with an actual technician instead of simply a customer service agent which is what I wanted but was told they don't do that which is a shame but oh well.

LOVE IT !
I finally retired my 35 year old KitchenAid mixer. (It's still running like a champ) I needed something bigger and capable of kneading large amounts of dough. This machine is incredibly strong, sturdy and ok let's just say it......BEAUTIFUL ❤️ I am over the moon for this domestic power tool! I read so many reviews; most are glowing and more than satisfied. Still there were a few that mentioned clicking noises or they thought the motor was too loud. Always, those two complaints. I find that in these situations it's usually operator error. The clicking noise is probably caused because the bowl was not fully engaged onto the machine, or the mixing attachment isn't on all the way. As far as the loud motor......mine is whisper soft. My suggestion to all is to READ THE BOOKET thoroughly before using. This is a powerful machine that needs to be used safely and with respect. I even learned a few things. Ha Enjoy!

So far...GREAT!
I bought this for my wife as an upgrade from the Artisan and she has so far put in one day of use (and we will update review as required/warranted). Prior to purchase, I read too many reviews and am now listening to every click and watching for every wiggle! The unit is smaller than I expected (again, too many reviews!) and much quieter than the Artisan. My wife was very excited to try a "full" bread recipe with 12 cups of flour, as the Artisan limited her to 5 cups (and just barely performed). We both listened as she shoveled in scoop after scoop of flour into the pouring shield (which is a nice feature) and we heard NO change in the pitch/speed of the motor as it gobbled down 12 cups. Yes, we heard "clicking" which we had with the Artisan but we expect there to be some mechanical noise for the torque it is delivering. No clicking heard when machine is not under load/strain. So far, very pleased. UPDATE 1/18/2016: Mixer has been great with 3x cookie and bread dough processing. Tonight we used our pasta roller attachment for making dumpling dough, which can be very elastic/tough. Mixer had no problem making the dough (8 cups flour) and barely make a whimper when we ran the dough through the pasta rollers. With the Artisan, it would sound like it wanted to bog down and stop...which was always a little nerve wracking. So we are SOLD in this mixer (which is on sale now for $100 less than we paid for it!) If you are on the fence, I highly recommend it.

Bread for days!
I'm very happy with it! Although I don't think it is brand new, many reviewers seem to be confused and sending the mixers back. I was too at first since I've never owned one. First, it did leak a little bit of oil the first time, I decided to look up repair and found that it can be caused by separation. Also laying on it's side during storage. It hasn't done it again. Its food grade oil and I would have a repair person repack it with oil if it happens again. Second, the beater was hitting the bowl. This was my fault because it wasn't pushed down in the back. I'd adusted the screw all the way to the right, but I finally saw the clip in the back and pushed the bowl down, I felt like I was going to break it. I didn't want anything to happen that I caused in case I needed to return it in the 30 days. But it snapped into place and the beater does not hit, it fits perfect. So those were my concerns and how it worked out for me. I make bread a lot, 2x a week and this is the strongest mixer, it does it no problem. You can hear it clicking and working but its not too loud and i dont expect silence. Im thrilled I got a good price.
