For elegant jetsetters, writers and technogeeks who love ultraportability
I've had it for a week and I love it. I'm a (fast) two-fingered typist so this keyboard really took a few days to get used to and honestly I still prefer the traditional Mac keyboard. But the size/portability, the screen quality and the almost not credible sound quality are the overriding factors. To put it another way, if I had the opportunity to travel back in time this would be the laptop I would take to impress the hell out of everyone. I do have a Macbook Retina 15 1Tb with the highest end processor, which I use for video editing and Photoshop. Yes that machine is a speed demon, but honestly I found with 95% of the thing I do during the day this 12" Macbook is more than adequate. I can even do Photoshop with this 12" Macbook, I mean high end Photoshop with a hundred layers or so. Other than the 3D interface (for those that know that) I am not inconvenienced here. Ditto for InDesign -- although high end graphics does start to show a tiny lag there but nothing that's a deal breaker. And for fun, I did so some video editing on Premiere Pro, and it did take longer to render out (the SSD disk isn't as fast on this machine). But it astonished me that it could. If I had to do minor editing on the road, in emergency cases, I can, although that's not the right Macbook for the job honestly. For any other Word, Pages, Numbers, Excel, Keynote, Powerpoint, Evernote, iTunes ... anything, this Macbook is absolutely the correct computer. You will notice zero difference even with a few programs open. If you want to do any accounting, writing, document design, travel on airplanes, sit in a cafe and write all day long, then this is the laptop. The charger is very light to carry around as well. This can be your only laptop if you are not a graphics artist or editor. If you want to do heavy multimedia, you can somewhat but don't get rid of the more powerful machine. This is a wonderful second machine for you, even for presenting at client meetings. Lastly, in case you guys are wondering whether iPad Pro or this Macbook 12, definitely this Macbook, no question. It's a real laptop, a real file system, real apps and programs, not just IOS clipped versions. If you have to draw with a pen then maybe consider the iPad Pro, or a Surface Book, but really those are really expensive compared to this,

The Perfect Macbook for Everyday Use
This little laptop is perfect for just about everything I need it to do! For those that don't like the longer reviews posted here, I'll try to condense this as much into list format as I can. Pros: - Speedy processor keeps up with demanding tasks. - Keyboard is perfectly spaced for bigger hands. - It does not heat up insanely when under pressure like other Macs. - The screen is gorgeous, and everything is crisp and color is true-to-life. - The speakers are phenomenal for such a tiny device. - The trackpad is accurate, and clicking feels natural. - The battery life is out-of-this world good. I got 13 hours of Netflix (multiple sessions) on 50% backlight. Cons (sorta): - For me, the USB-C and having to buy a hub is a nuisance, but not a deal breaker. - Heavier graphical tasks are best served for the Core i5~i7-series MacBook Pros. - When more than 3 power-intensive apps are open (Safari w/tabs, Logic Pro X, and iTunes), processor can chug a bit. For me, even the cons are pretty negligible. This little laptop performs as well as my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (w/ Nvidia 650M), and is about a quarter of the weight. It is perfect for writing, for school, excel functions, game design, and on-the-go mixing. Like with the Apple Watch, if you're not expecting it to do everything under the sun (especially gaming), this laptop proves it can be efficient, cost-effective, and a down right cool little device. You won't be disappointed if you decide to pick one up! I'm happy I did.

MacBook
I received this the other day. I've always been a mac/apple guy but I feel they're sort of going down hill. This MacBook is made of all metal, which seems crazy to me. Every time I pick it up I'm afraid it's going to slip out of my hands and kill my dog, who is always sleeping beside or on me. Also, I don't get why everything mac, has to be so thin. This thing is the thickness of a yellow notepad. They seem obsessed with making their products super thin and although I'm sure there's a few other reasons for the discontinuation of the disk drive, good old FireWire and regular USB (this new version is thinner) I can't help but suspect their need to make super thin products plays a big role in the loss of those. It runs well.

Simply Beautiful!!
I just received this computer a few days ago and so far I really love it! It's very user friendly and easy to learn and operate. Unlike Windows 10 which IMO is just terrible! The design is flawless. The pictures simply do not do it justice. I purchased the Rose Gold and it is truly stunning! The Retina display is simply beautiful. Pictures and videos are crisp and clean. I have read many reviews about the butterfly keyboard not being all that great. However, I find that I really like it and it took me no time at all to adjust. I definitely prefer it to a regular scissor type keyboard. I am not a gamer, or someone who edits videos or photos on a regular basis. So the fact that this computer is not a loaded power house is not an issue for me. I write short stories, poetry, and children's stories. I use it for social media from time to time and pretty standard web browsing. This computer is perfect for what I need. The one port complaint is also not an issue for me. If and when I need to use other ports, purchasing an adapter isn't a huge deal. Although it would be nice to see Apple add additional ports to their future models of MacBook. I also love how light and portable this computer is. I feel like the freedom is endless with this particular model. Overall this is a great computer if you are not needing a multitude of bells and whistles for gaming or large video editing projects. If you are looking for a beautiful, eye catching, light, portable, daily using computer and can afford it's rather high price tag, then this is an excellent choice!
