Died within 6 or so months
I bought this specifically to go with my Amcrest NVR. It was fine for 6 months. But my NVR started making beeping noises alerting me of something. I did not know how to debug the beeps. 6 months later, on close observation, I noticed that the HDD LED was off. I went into the menu of my NVR and it shows the HDD but nothing on it. Everything else is fine. I took it out and connected to a PC and nothing. This product is junk. I wish I had noticed this problem earlier. Now I am even out of warranty period to get anything meaningful out of seagate. If I am spending $115 every 6 months replacing my HDD, I'd rather pay for cloud back up and not bother with this crap.

Takes a beating.
This thing has had eight UHD PIR Cams running on it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 months straight now with no errors, no lost data, and no problems of any kind. While I realise this is not that long, I do have to submit a review while it's still relevant. I do have four more cams on it but they are interior and never trigger. Under testing the write speeds have handled the load from all twelve but this is never encountered in day to day. What it does deal with day to day however, is a constant barrage of writes from three to four cameras at once. With our setup in this environment it is not too uncommon for all eight to be demanding constant writes from multiple triggers. The point being in the four months there have been a lot of rewrites and it's still holding like new. Highly Recommended

Reliable CCTV HDD
After having major issues with several Seagate HDD's in the past, I was reluctant to try another Seagate. I mainly use Western Digital Purple drives for NVR's, but I decided to give the Seagate SkyHawk a try. So far it's been working for almost 5 months in an Amcrest NVR with no issues. I have no issues recording multiple 1080 video streams 24/7, plus replaying video.

edited review : this is an EXCELLENT HDD
thought that the HDD was defective, because the DVR couldnt see it anymore after 18 months of continuous use, I replaced it, to find that the DVR was the one to blame, it even rendered this HDD un-readable, because it mis-formatted it, so, when I tested the HDD in a different device it didnt work, BUT, all problems disappeared when I formatted the drive, APOLOGIES Seagate, you are as anyone can SEE, GrEAT . Works as it should.
I bought this to replace a 1TB drive in my security NVR that was working fine but just wasn't big enough after I swapped out 4 cams to HD units. It's been working fine for a month now with no issues. If I run into any issues I'll update the review, but so far so good.
