an excellent Bug-out Boot, at a great price
So I've been building a bug-out bag recently, and listening to quite a few people who have posted vid's on utube about what to have. A lightweight, waterproof boot seems to be the overwhelming choice for footwear. After all, you definitely dont want to have wet feet, and you just might need to run, so weight is also very important. All that said, I chose these boots from Timberland, a very reputable company making top quality footwear for some time now. THESE BOOTS DID NOT DISAPPOINT ME AT ALL. They are very well built, VERY lightweight, extremely comfortable, and look great too. I do agree with one reviewer on here that said that they are kinda spacious in the toe area, so I will be buying a thick sock. I usually wear a 11.5 or 12 in a boot, and I ordered a 12 just so i'm not sending them back for being too small. Well they fit great but are just a tad big in the toe area, which for me isn't a big deal. I'd rather have them a bit big then a bit small. I think a good pair of DR Scholls shock absorbers and I'm gelling as i'm kicking some Zombie A&$. Love the boots so much i'm considering buying a second pair. Great boot at a great price, couldn't be happier. Throw some mink oil on the beautiful leather and i'm sure one could almost walk on water and not get wet. Definitely definitely get a pair, you wont be disappointed.

Do not waste your money. This Style is the worst designed of any Timberland!!
Worst pair of Timberlands that I have ever had!! There si an obvious reason this style of Timberlands is so low priced...because they have been shoddily designed. I have never had a pair of Timberlands or any shoe for that matter where the laces come off of upper rungs. It would have been better if the entire shoe had eyelets up to the top, but Timberland had opted for the 2 upper rows to have these rungs that are at a slant, so walking at a decent pace, the laces will always slip off of these rungs and the shoe then loosens up!The inner arch support that I had in previous Timberlands is non-existent in this style making for an uncomfortable experience if you are standing waiting for a bus or train.Simply put this is no bargain...in fact I feel like I've wasted my money.I will have to be shopping for another pair but this time I am going to look for the better styles of Timberland!~

Quality Issue
On the plus side, these boots have been very comfortable right out of the box. The break in time was almost zero. Unfortunately there are quality issues with my pair. The seam along the webbing on the side of the shoe came loose after relatively short use. A minor problem has been the laces. The outer sheath broke very quickly after I started wearing the shoes. A nice shoe with some quality issues.

Seems rugged, but some quality issues present
They work as advertised; durable, waterproof, etc. I'm tough on boots, but haven't even had the chance to put these through their paces because at least one eyelet on each boot was poorly made and has shredded my laces after just a few months of use.I'm going to attempt to smooth out the interior to the eyelet with a round file or rotary tool and get a new pair of laces to see if that fixes the issue.

Awesome boot
I originally ordered extra wide, but sent them back and got medium width. The new ones that came fit great, and they are so comfortable right out of the box. Both pairs came a bit scuffed, but I was able to buff out the marks. I polished the new pair with mink oil, so they really look great now and should be even more waterproof. Really great boots for the money, and the Amazon return process to send back the first pair could not have been easier.

worth every penny no matter the cost
My first year on the job (night security) I went through a pair of Bates duty boots and a second pair of another brand. For my 3rd pair I figured I'd try yet another kind. I have had these Timberland Chocorua Gore-Tex Hikers now for 2 years and they have seen 4 or 5 pairs of laces and 2 pair of insoles. The boots are still comfortable, waterproof and presentable... but the soles have gone bald like an old tire with 100,000 miles on it.They aren't ripped or "blown out" (where the side of your foot starts sticking out the side) Most importantly, they didn't develop a squeak in the heels while walking. As a night security guard it's not too handy to try to be stealthy while you walk around sounding like that one shopping cart at the grocery store with the bum wheel.Wrote this review while picking out a new pair, though the old pair are not getting tossed. They still make good yard boots. I may even buy 2 more pair to have one on reserve should they become unavailable at some point. Yeah, I think that highly of them.UPDATE** I just bought my new pair, in "Noir" because of the unavailability of the black and the price...but here's the thing, despite the slight shade difference in the pictures between the "noir" and "black", they are as black as the first pair I bought. I have no idea what this description of "noir" is supposed to mean but suffice it to say, they are black through and through. They don't get any blacker.

Terrible DO NOT BUY
I used a pair of these boots for one month and they where all torn. The shoe laces the side were getting ripped, just a terrible product. If you walk on anything other than street I would stay away from this model. I emailed Timberland and sent them pictures and they said that they could not help me.I am not saying that Timberland is all bad. I bought a different type and thay are good but not this one.STAY AWAY.

Great fittng, but design flawed
I have had two pairs of these . They fit great , are light weight, and tractible .Gore-Tex is truly waterproof; waterproofed leathers aren't. The problem I've had with walking three or so miles a day is the fabric insert .Although these are stitched well , the fabric is cut short and not folded over and hemmed when sewn into the leather , so after several weeks the fabric becomes internally frayed and pulls out of the leather through the stitching on both pairs ; so I know it wasn't just a fault with the first pair .That's too bad , because I really like the fit and comfort. There is a similar shoe with leather sides and no fabric -but they aren't Gore-Tex.
