Rosewill for the Win!!!
This was my second attempt at this type of drive cage for my media server rebuild. The first was an Icy Dock at over twice the price (did not buy at Amazon), which did not work properly and was shipped back quickly. This cage installed easily, has a larger cooling fan that runs slower (read more quietly), keeps all the drives nice & cool, and works great. I read the reviews about flimsy drive caddies, (the framework that holds the individual drives), but honestly, I have no problem with their construction or function. They are more than sufficient for their purpose (you may just not want to carry them in your tool box or bowling bag). Looks great, works great, can't hear it, and the price was right. What more can you ask for? Would buy again in a second!

Great deal!
It came in a Newegg box. Perfect condition. Shipping seemed much more taken care of in a Newegg box. Probably because people could tell it has something fragile and expensive in it. There is a power connector on bay three that makes it difficult to put the drive in but it works nicely if you use a little force. Hot swap works nicely just be careful the disks are still spinng for a few seconds after you eject. I got it at a great deal compared to other manufactures. Matches my rosewill nautilus case but it's a little big for it. I plan on making a 4 drive raidz 2 with these after testing the drives a little. Perfect for a 4 drive raid. I'm using it externally and it works fine.New model is okay for the money too but too different to be listed on the same page as the hot swap model in my opinion. Don't put the drives in backwards like I did at first.

Excellent
This is, for the most part, a superb product at a good price. It is cheaper than others like it. It is much less noisy than others like it, yet the cooling is excellent. I gave only four relatively minor negatives (at least none are show-stoppers):1) Combining the activity LED and power LED into a single LED to save maybe 50 cents is a mistake. Having it blink OFF for activity is crazy.2) The LEDs are too bright and I hate blue.3) The all-plastic construction is somewhat flimsy, though I have never had any part break or fail to fit.4) Related to the all-plastic construction, the engagement and latching of the slide-in caddy is quite poor. You have to take care that it is making proper contact, and it stands to loosen up if disturbed in any way.In summary, however, I regard this as the best available unit.

Be careful or you might burn up drives etc.
I ordered one of these hesitantly because I saw the issues that talk about burning up drives and smoking etc. So before I plugged it in, I did a deep dive on how it is made and came up some thoughts on the burn up issue.1. The power input is molex and very difficult to tell the keying for the molex connector in that it merges into the black case. If you inadvertently plug in the connector wrong it will apply 12v on the 5v connection which could cause things to burn up.2. The 2 power connectors are tied in parallel. If you plug in both and they are not sourced from the exact same supply it could be a problem. IE one supply providing 12v the other supplying 13v which could cause a fight in the circuity and burn things up.Other than that the box is well made and will work. Mine so far has not burned up. I gave this a one start because of the serious design issue.

Nice housing, couple of catches
Overall this is a good product. The slide in drive bays are easy to drop drives into, and they're already setup to position SSD drives correctly if you want to use those. The fan in the back is a nice big 120mm fan, seems to be standard size/setup so you should be able to swap in the fan you prefer if this one doesn't do what you want. Because of the design of the enclosure, there's not going to be a *TON* of air flow through it (even with the 120mm fan), and SSD drives won't see much benefit from the fan as the opening is on the side away from where they are mounted. (To be fair, they won't need as much cooling as they will have more room around them.) The fan is nice and quiet, pretty much can't hear it when the box is all closed up.I had a 5 GB drive that was running hot (about 40* C at idle). The uber-quiet (but super low airflow) 80mm fans didn't do a whole lot to help it, once in this enclosure the temps dropped 10* C thanks to the airflow of the massive 120mm fan. As it's basically the only drive in the enclosure currently, we'll see how that holds up once it's filled.A couple of (potential) issues. One, this is *VERY* deep. I'm dropping this into a case (NORCO 4U Rack Mount Server Chassis - Black RPC-470), and while it has a ton of room before the fan black, there was *ALMOST* not enough room for the whole thing (accounting for cables, and not getting interference with the fans). So double check that you have enough room. You *COULD* remove the fan to free up quite a bit or room if you're not concerned about temps.Secondly, the plastic housing at the front (where the drive sleds lock into place) is significantly wider than the metal housing, The metal housing fit *VERY* tight in place, the plastic wanted to catch. It took a lot of finessing, some leverage, and shoving to get it into place. It doesn't seem to affect how the drive sleds go in or lock, but if your case is slightly tighter it might not be able to go in at all. The plastic housing could be removed and the sleds still used (they wont lock, of course), that's a sub-optimal solution.Overall, I'm really happy with this housing. It works well for what I need, and once I managed to get it in was easy to use.
