If you need sturdy, long-handled cotton swabs, these are outstanding. I use them for cleaning guns, as the regular swabs tend to bend and disintegrate in hard use. These allow me to clean deep inside the firing pin channel of my GLOCKs, for example.

It worked for my diamond painting projects. After dipping the cotton stick into the glue a couple of times the cotton at the tip does get stringy but it still works for me.
