Works in rain.
This satellite dish worked as advertised. It is a breeze to set up, and once the receiver is activated, the reception of Direct TV came in very strong. The signal it got was very strong. This unit worked well in a strong thunderstorm when the RV was shaking with the wind. Remember, this unit only receives standard definition, but in our RV, with a 26" TV, the picture is very good. Also bear in mind, you need the older Direct TV receiver, for the standard definition. Do not buy an old standard def receiver from anyone, it might not be deactivated.

WOrks Well
I have had an older carryout on my other RV for five years and it is still going strong (knock on wood). This set-up quickly and I like not having to provide external/outdoor power. For the price, they could have provided a coax cable of higher quality--this one is flimsy and will be replaced with something stronger and more durable.

Dead out of the box
Had high expectations for this thing. Installed everything by the book. It wouldn't find the Directv Satellite 101, called Winegard, the first tech couldn't get it figured out, got transferred to a trouble shooter tech, no luck there either. She had me go out and check the voltage, it was getting 13.26 volts to the antenna. Tech tells me the unit is defective.Update: Got the second G2+, hooked it up, didn’t work in the RV, winegard tech couldn’t help, did some research, found a review from a person that said he hooked the inserter to the satellite connection in the convince center in the basement of his 5th wheel,. I tried this and presto, the G2+ found the satellite and we now have satellite TV. If you are having problems with the inserter hooked up per the directions, try this solution. Now that's great, brand new out of the box and it is defective. Winegard is going to send me a new one. When we get the replacement and if it works as advertised, I will give a better review. We are trying to get this to work in a one year old 5th wheel, if the new one doesn't work through the RV wiring, will send it back for a refund.

Warning: Power inserter limits length of coax cable
This satellite uses a power inserter, to supply the dish with power to turn. Unfortunately it limits the length of coax cable you can use. I used this in my RV, which has internal coax wiring, so in conjunction with that, I'm limited to about a 10-15 ft coax cable on the outside, which really puts a damper on things when I need to reposition the dish on the other side of the trailer.I previously had another dish which didn't require a power inserter, was self-powered, and allowed me to use a 50 ft coax on the outside of my trailer.I wouldn't buy this again.

Seems to work perfectly
We had a Winegard roof top TV dome antenna installed 6 years ago (about $1200)on our motorhome. For some reason, the PC board didn't work a few months ago, so before getting another antenna, we researched quite a bit and a knowledgeable technician who works installing Winegards at our local RV sales/repair shop, suggested a Winegard G2+ which is a heavier duty one made usually for truckers. It can be put outside on the ground or mounted on the roof of an RV. I called Winegard and got the same information. They were out of stock and suggested ordering from Amazon, but also had to order a new mounting kit. The older Winegard had a wider base than the G2+. The technician took off the old one, installed the new G2+, set up the DirectTV receiver we use in our motorhome, all within an hour. The TV promptly found the satellite and everything works. Now my question is -- will this one last more than 6 years??? It also cost in the neighborhood of $1100. Be aware, though, there is an inch higher on the roof now and our RV garage just barely lets the coach get under the door frame.

GT2+ Will not work with a genie 2 Direct TV system....
This Sat system is advertised to work with your existing Direct TV system, this is not true.. If you have a Genie 2 Direct TV system you'll have to sign a 2 year contract and get a receiver from Direct TV. No where does it state this in the paperwork that will happen, in fact it states it will work with your existing Direct TV home system...They will not refund my money..

bulletproof unit
i own a semi and drive 130,000 miles per year over some real crap roads. wind, rain, snow and salt. my last unit lasted 3 years of this. the only thing wrong was the 12 volt wire corroded the terminal off. unstead of fixing it i just bought a new unit. this has no 12 volt wire connection. it simply uses the antenna cable to achieve dish movement. in the past i used vu-cube, a "king controls" unit...or should i say several units. i became a king mechanic! always working on the darn thing. the people in Minnesota at the factory are pretty much totally worthless. there is no comparison, so very happy with this G-2. the people at wineguard and direct were very helpful upon my original setup, and professional. i didn't bother running the new antenna cable when installing the new antenna unit because the original cable was still in perfect shape. excellent product.

Too sensitive for use
This unit worked well when initially set up, however, it apparently can't take travel. It was apparently bumped around too much on the road and would not work when we tried to set it up after a long trip to our destination. A portable dish really should be able to survive porting.

Sattel- up
Paid good money arrived all scratched up. There should be a protective film on the if their going to pack it with small parts moving around. Otherwise works well. As a note this satellite won’t work with the Bell 9400 HD PVR.

Great device, works well
Great device, works well, but you need a clear line to the satellite. Trees will cause blockage. Much cheaper than having a mounted one on the RV roof. Plus this can be mobile to any spot at your camp site.

Beware of improper cardinal alignment
Wish the instructions had informed that the handle must be aligned to the north before having deducted it by myself upon various weeks of not getting any signal just by misplacing it. Beware of fixed mounts if your rv parked direction leaves the handle facing south.

Winegard Dish
Looks good, only tried it to make sure it works but it worked well. Pretty short coaxial cable though, 25 ft is not much. Technicians say you can use up to 50 feet so will give it a try.
