Bulova B1514 Asheville Mantel Clock, Brown Cherry

I love things of quality and grace. This little clock would be comfortable in any setting and looks way more expensive than it is. I love the Westminster chimes. I love the volume control. The sound of the bells is so accurate and authentic it makes me want to cry because it takes me back to the days of my childhood. It is a fine little piece of furniture good enough for a home of any size. The price is reasonable but I would have paid any price for it. The batteries that operate the clock seem to go on and on and on. The time is always accurate to within a minute or two. But I did not buy this for accuracy. I bought it for the nostalgia and for the comfort that it gives to me.

If you're looking for an inexpensive high quality clock, HERE IT IS! it has a good choice of chimes, but since we also have a Grandfather clock, the "dueling chimes,' were too much, so it sits on the mantel, "quietly looking good, while showing us the time."

The clock arrived well packaged with relatively clear instructions. It was easy to set up, and worked perfectly from the get-go. It looks beautiful, and it sounds exquisite chiming throughout the downstairs rooms.. I love it! It's nice that you can set it to "quiet" mode from 11pm until 6am, too. Its the exact clock I was dreaming it would be!

I looked all over online for a mantelpiece clock, just the right one, not to small, face just right, wood shaped just so, decently priced. Read so many reviews on clocks!!! I LOVE THIS CLOCK!! It keeps perfect time, looks great on my dresser in the bedroom. The only thing I haven’t tested are the chimes. We already have a grandfather clock that chimes, so I just haven’t gotten around to it. This is a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money! Could be an heirloom someday or make a great gift!

This is a nice and pretty clock and keeps good time when it runs, but battery life is very short and sound quality is less than desired. I expected so much more from Bulova. *The clock eats batteries. Batteries (2 C size) for the chimes last about 30 days on the Westminster chime setting. *Battery for the clock time mechanism (AA size) lasts approximately 60 days. *Used fresh Duracell batteries and Energizers. Both battery changes lasted the same length of time. *It is an expensive, time consuming, aggravating and frustrating process to change the batteries and synch the chimes to the time. *The chimes have a thin, hollow tinny sound. This clock is not at all what I expected from Bulova. It was a very disappointing purchase. Unfortunately, by the time I realized that this clock was frustrating and expensive to operate, it was too late to return for a refund. This receives a DO NOT BUY recommendation.

The chimes are pretty. We like that there is a sound control. Also, it has three choices of chimes. It has kept the correct time. We also got it while on sale.

We had an antique mantel clock that would do the Westminster chimes on the quarter hours and count the hours. Through the years, it needed visits to the clock repairman who has since retired. Needless to say, the clock couldn't be repaired anymore as it's hard to find such talented people. And, sadly the clock did get damaged beyond repair. So, we started looking for a replacement, and found this Bulova. Saw that it had several options for chiming and ran on batteries - no springs to break! Ordered it and it arrived as promised. The set up for the chimes went easily. After settling on the Westminster chimes, we let it run for a while. We had to turn off the quarter hour chimes as it appeared to not be programmed by the factory properly....it should have played just part of the tune at each quarter hour. It operated correctly for the first and second quarter hour. However, at the third quarter hour, the entire tune played instead of just 3 quarters of the tune. Did that for about 3 hours and we ended up turning that off. Too bad. Anyway, after adjusting the volume and setting the chimes for just the hour, we are enjoying it! One feature on the clock that we absolutely love is the Sleep Mode! It chimes for the last time at 10pm and stays quiet until 6am! Great!! And, as long as the batteries are good, it has been keeping excellent time! Still not our old antique, but we are enjoying it very much!

Pros: This clock was packaged well and had no damage. It looks nice from a distance and the sound is better than the last one I had from a competitor's brand. It is working fine with no issues so far. Cons: Arrived with a few tiny bubbles in the finish on the front and in the curviture molding around the face. This is unacceptable for this price point (paid $169). The curved molding seems to be a plastic material. The back door of the clock no longer has gold hinges or a knob...it is just plain without adornments. This does not match the picture. This item doesn't arrive with batteries, so two C batteries and one double A will be required. Instructions tell you to set the clock counterclockwise. However, at the top of the instruction sheet it states Not to do this! LOL. The correct way to set the time is in fact clockwise. Why isn't someone correctly the contradictory info in the manual? Overall, this is definitely not a clock that should be priced over a hundred bucks imo.

This clock is every thing I was hoping for and more. the chimes really sound good plus the quit time at night that does it with out being set. was very easy to set up at the start up. so far very happy with it...

Lindo e de boa qualidade conforme o descrito e as fotos. Porém, precisa de pilhas maiores para o som das badaladas… e as pilhas duram exatos 15 dias!! O relógio é muito bonito e preciso, para ele a pilha comum tá indo bem, mas para o som do badalo são duas pilhas “C” que duram mais que 15 dias…

It's a little complicated to energize and set it up, but not too bad. It is solidly built, has some weight to it, the wood looks great and seems to be keeping very accurate time. It would be nice to be able to stop it from chiming the number of times for each hour it's passing, at each hour, and just have a simple chime so you hear it has passed the hour. Also it would be nice to have a few more chime choices (only 3). But overall we are very happy with the clock.
