Rust-Oleum 7701830-6PK Stops Rust Spray Paint, 12 oz, Gloss Crystal Clear I am painting my old pickup truck and I was on the fence to use a clear on the new paint. I have historically had BAD results over time with clear coat peeling off of my vehicles. Before I began the projects, I did a test spray of the colors and the clear coat, then I left it outside in the weather to see if there was anything I should know about its ability to stand up to weather. in the mean time I sprayed another two pieces from the truck. However, I did not spray them with the clear to see if there was any difference. Because I couldn't put those pieces on the truck yet, I left them in a safe place in the yard. Over a period of 3 weeks, we had rain and some snow. RESULTS after the first rain, both the two peices and the test piece had water bubbling up and running off of them. but after the second rain, we saw rain spots on the two pieces to the truck but NOT on the test piece which had the clear coat. We had another rain and the result got worse on the two pieces but the test piece looked as fresh as when I painted it. I RECOMMEND this Crystal Clear spray from Rustolium I do not know the seller and did not receive anything for my random review. 240407 2317 The pieces that did not have the clear sprayed on them

These spray cans one DOES NOT KNOW how long they've been sitting on a shelf. I bought a 6 pack first 5 was fine, needed a touch-up to finish and that last can sprayed for 2 seconds then nothing. Cleaned the tip, was not the issue. Looked at the can top with spray tip removed, not the issue. Shook & beat that can in my towel covered palm for 5 minutes. It's spurted 6 drops & quit. QUICKLY went to W'mart for 2 cans JUST IN CASE one failed. Yup, 1st one failed while second one worked fine (SHWEEEEW!!!), returned for refund. . AS LONG AS you follow the direction of spray time between coats, product works well. Clear Gloss (2 coats) over metal-flake finish is nice, not great. I might wet-sand & buff in the Spring (now Oct) but for now it's quite adequate. -->DO WAIT 20-30 days before wet-sanding, this paint is a slow full cure, unless you have a heated paint booth. . __TRICK HINTS: SHAKE CANS EVERY MONTH if they're sitting on a shelf. best position is upright but tilted. IF there's any settlement check by rolling that marble inside around the bottom. Don't mistake solid paint that's the spray tube. Instead of turning upside down and clearing the nozzle, put a clean new piece of tape over it & press hard for a good seal. After 1.5 months of non-use, no issue of a dried spray nozzle. 😉👍

Use this to apply a clear coating to the items we paint with 2X paint. I always apply the clear coating to our products within 30 minutes of painting with the 2X paint to avoid the paint from bubbling up. Rustolem recommends either within 60 minutes or after 48 hours of painting. I learned the hard way and applied the clear coating approx. 2 hours after painting and the paint bubbled up real bad.
