Quick chopper!!
I am so happy with this product! I have always been an OXO fan, and this does not disappoint! I specifically wanted one that only diced, and this fit the bill perfectly. I like the "dump" feature in the back of the chopper, when I am chopping a lot of veggies, I don't have to fiddle with it, pull it apart and put it back together again. One piece of advice if you purchase this. I use a toothbrush to clean the blades if I'm not putting it in the dishwasher. I find it safer. But... very dishwasher friendly!!!

Handy
I think this item is well-designed and functional. I use it principally to chop apples to add to my cereal or oatmeal at breakfast and for that it's perfect. It's quick to use and easy to clean. Onions was a bit more problematic as some sections failed to chop and gummed up the blades. The biggest challenge was sweet potatoes. That was a fail. I tried too hard and bent some blades but was able to bend them back with pliers. I was also initially puzzled by the red removable grid as it would easily fall off. If you aren't careful, you'll chop it up. Then I saw that there is a small lip at the top of the base where the removable piece attaches. You need to press down on the top of the red piece to position it behind the lip so it will stay in place.

Better than we thought. . .using often
My hubs makes red beans and rice, chili and a few other dishes and he asked me to order this particular product. We love it. I can't believe how much we use it. It's super handy and I love the open pour situation on the end. Super quality, size, blade is sharp, great OXO product. It even fits in my island drawer so it's super handy as well. I enjoy chopping veggies, it's therapeutic. But, sometimes I'm in a hurry. This does the trick.

Not a good choice
I bought this based on a Consumer reports recommendation, but I was misled. I was concerned when there were absolutely no instructions included. The label in the lid saying "Press here to snap purple grid into place" is confusing since pressing there will do nothing, but it did make me curious about removing the grid. It is a cleaning aid. However, after removing and replacing the grid, the first time I closed the device the plastic grid fell off and was cut up by the blades. It will now no longer stay in place as designed, although another reviewer showed a photo of putting it in sideways, which does help, though more difficult to remove. The container is small, so it must be emptied frequently so it does not overflow out the back. "Wet" items, such as tomatoes and other juicy items, stick to it and do not simply pour out. In fact, my experience with tomatoes is not good, since they also get stuck in the blades, or run down the sloped front of the device onto the counter. I could not find out how to take the body of the device apart for cleaning, until I saw another user's video. In short, I would not buy this again. See photos for illustration of some of these issues.

IMO a little big for onion chunks. But... There are Hacks!! EDIT!
Works Well! VERY SHARP!! For me the onion cubes were a bit large but NOT a disqualifier. I found the perfect use is for diced potatoes!! Slice your potato as thick as the squares of the cutter and they some out perfect!! Works well with apple slices too!! Pro-Tip: Slice an onion/potato/green pepper as thick as the squares place your hand over the open end when done chopping and shake vigorously! Then dump into skillet to fry! I have to look and see if OXO has different size cutters so I don't need to buy a whole new setup... My only issue w/ this chopper is a bit of difficulty separating the parts for cleaning. Especially with wet hands. It's hard to pull them apart. Pressing that little tab ain't so easy. The grid cleaner insert is a nice touch though. This is a real value for the money Hands Down. -- EDIT: Mine broke. A blade separated. Put in for a return and had another one literally the next day. I think I just had a tough onion. Poop happens. One last issue. The cover won't stay upright/open in use. No big issue... Just wanted to mention it. I still give it 5 *'s...

Saves on pain in the arms
I love this item. I found that cutting vegetables was hurting my arm so using this saves me from the pain. I make salads every Sunday so I'm using this all the time. However, the plastic grid piece is ripping and I'm trying to find a replacement for it.

There IS a manual, and chopped onion is just less than 1/2" cubes
I bought this for chopping onion, and the cut pieces are just less than 1/2" cubes. Some of the pieces were bigger and needed to be cut, but it sure beats cutting the whole onion with a knife, while my eyes burn painfully and my nose runs. Thank you to everyone who wrote reviews, because they were extremely valuable. I think I can address all the shortcomings. I saw it recommended in Consumer Reports, but the reviews here were very concerning. There really IS a two-page manual [https://www.williams-sonoma.com/netstorage/pdf/OXO-Vegetable-Chopper-87322-Assembly-Instructions-User-Manual.pdf] which does not come with the item but I found necessary. Yes, my purple grid did fall out until I turned it 90 degrees (as suggested in one of the reviews) and then it stayed in. Yes, it does take some effort to push down quickly and firmly with both hands on the black area ("soft touch point") on the top. It made a sharp popping noise, but not audible in the next room, and a couple pieces did jump out the back, which is open so the contents can be poured out. So cover the back. The manual shows how to cut items to be chopped. For onions, cut in half and place one half on the cutting area with cut side down, chopping one half at a time. It comes apart into three pieces. I'm one of the least mechanical people who ever lived, and I never would have figured it out. Remove the lid (top) by lifting up. Push on the 3 dots under the opening on the back side to release the clear container from the cutting grid. All 3 pieces can go on the top rack of the dishwasher. Remove the purple grid first, which helps remove food from between the plastic teeth on the top. I'm going to wash the purple grid by hand. I've covered everything in the "manual" but I'm a visual person and like to see the pictures. I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because the manual doesn't come with it, and because the chopped onion pieces are a bit on the big side, and some still needed to be cut with a knife. I have no intention of cutting anything other than onions with it, so can't comment on how it might handle other foods, although the manual says it's not for meat or cheese.
