Can anyone tell me if a standard size vinyl lp record will fit in these?

The standard size of a vinyl lp is 12 in dia., if your lucky enough to have the 1930's/40's albums (78 rpm), they're only 10 in dia. So the answer to your question is yes. That being said, I would suggest you take a look at pouches made for records, such as, Record Inner Sleeves Anti-Static- (50Pk) Premium Protection for 12" LP Albums by Record-Happy or something similar.

Can anyone recommend pouches that are sturdy enough for China and crystal?

The ones I bought were for china and they worked very well. I also bought special boxes for china.

I read a complaint that these are sheets rather than pouches. Is that true ?

I bought both the 12 x 12 and the 7.8 x 7.8 and they were both pouches not sheets.
