Review: Review by my 9 year old who thoroughly enjoyed the book - It was Christmas eve. A small village is baffled by the vanishing of Tammy, a 12-year-old girl. Only Ethan, Tammy's twin brother, and his best friend Iggy know that Tammy is safe-and the unimaginable truth of where she could be. But to get her back, Ethan, Iggy, and (an outlandish creature coming from a different planet)- Hellyann; go on a nerve-wracking adventure to get his twin back. This journey will take him and Iggy farther than anyone has been before. This story is remarkably gripping. It kept me from keeping the book aside and do something else other than reading. My favorite characters are Hellyann, Ethan, and Iggy. Additionally, I can't forget the one and only Ethan's Gran! (she made me laugh!) The book not only kept me guessing but also made me think about it the whole time. My favorite part of this book was when Hellyann was held hostage by the Geoffs and the way Ethan, Iggy, and Ethan's Gran saved Hellyann. I honestly think that Ross Welford is a phenomenal book writer, and the way he describes the scenes of this book is exceptional. This book is marvelous and magnificent, and that is why I recommend -this book to children like me who are 7-11 years old and interested in such mystifying stories. Out of 10, I will rate this book 10 OUT OF 10. Review: NICE STORY BY THE WRITER - NICE BOOK FOR KIDS ABOVE 8 YEARS

Bought it for my 8 yrs old but
I bought because the reviews were too good but my son didn’t enjoy it much as they lack illustrations and since he is more of a visual person, I should have done my research 😄

Not what I expected. Good though.
Not really as expected. I was thinking more description than this. I was expecting more of an exciting plot. Also, Hellyann? Really? Why not a more “alien - sounding” name? Like, Ablovisih?

Children literature is always fascinating, it has an element of connection which all age groups even adult can associate and more importantly can connect with it. Recently, in my Holi’s holidays I was at my home for celebration. During my sojourn I got an opportunity to read a book titled “The Kid who came from space” which is written by Rose Welford. I just grabbed this book due to its attractive cover paper. As you can see below it’s a catchy cover paper. However if you presume that you will find more of these types of graphics inside the book then you will be disappointed to know that it has none apart from rear cover image in the book. Having said that this is an interesting book and will keep you glued till the last page. Spoilers Ahead:- ( Cliché Summary ) Ok, so first some brief about the story in this book. As with the title of the book , you can presume and assume that this book is all about a kid who came from space. You are right in your assumption and this book is all about that. This book is a multi-starer book which has not one but many protagonists all of them are below 13 years. The main character(s) are twins Tammy - Ethan , Hellyann ( what we call alien ) , Iggy , Phillip ( robot bot ) and a cute chicken. But your next assumption that Hellyann is the kid who came from space needs serious scrutiny because it can be true as well as false depending on the understanding of yours. With all this characters there is lots of suspense, fun and frolic and and also Kidnapping. I will not write further and give more clue from the book for which you have to read it yourself. Why this book ??? • Ok, first and foremost the writing style of this book, although it has been bifurcated into tiny 78 chapters. Hey, don’t worry that’s why I used adjective tiny before 78. In total this book has only around 400 pages so all chapters are very small and are averagely around 4 to 5 pages. However in each chapter there is something happening, its not like in each chapter there is some big twist and turn but you will find something small but significant happening in each chapter which has some meaningful role in the future course in the story. • Education set up :- Hellyann as discussed earlier is from another planet ( Anthalla) and in her planet there is compulsory education till only ( hold my breath ) ………… 7 years. Yes , you read it write and its not a typo error its seven only. Since the planet ( Anthalla ) is developed , industrialized and rely more on facts than feeling they have compulsory education in which they teach their children about facts , knowledge and skills and simply no feelings. However as the story unfolds you will find out the problems of this kind of education. This comes with a general deliberation for us that what should come under education set-up and what should be the syllabus and curriculum. We as an adult should also contemplate that which part should be called extra-curricular ( lately co-curricular but mindset is still like extra-curricular) • The relationship between adult and child:- In whole story there are numerous relationship to look into. The relationship between Ethen and Tammy , being twins is written with lots of feeling. But also it has an important component of dialogues between adult and child. When Ethen share his part about what he has seen adults were not believing him, although he was telling the truth. So it has an component of trust deficit and how as an adult we should give not only love, care but also respect to our children. • Since the story revolves around Christmas celebration, with this story I was involved in lots of activities surrounding Christmas and Santa. For me it was like having Christmas in the time of Holi ( since I was reading the book around Holi celebration). • Yes, if you like imagination, space, interstellar journey, sci-fi stories then there are many things for you in this book. • Since, this is Child literature, you will find small-small things which are concerning for children and sometimes we as an adult overlook this aspects of Children. • Not understandable point if you have not read book ( roughly excerpts ) :- As from the story , Ethan says- “I have done my best according to my capability”. In this book review I have tried to do as per my capabilities but as in the story Tammy interrupts Ethan and says:- “Ethan, you are just trying to justify that you have done according to your capabilities but you have not done according to it”. You have to read whole story to find out the story and your version of this unique story. So if you have time and you like to read some imaginative stories then you should surely grab this book. Happy Reading………
