VERY SHARP
I didn’t think I needed the glove and I sliced off the entire tip of my finger. I gave it 5 stars for sharpness but I put the setting to the thinnest possible level for just a couple slices thinking I wouldn’t need safety for that. The movement of gliding the vegetable on the plane actually pulled the blade up to a wider gap/thickness meaning I was able to slice the whole tip of my finger off on the third pass. This was my own fault, the product is fantastic. Almost too good bc it comes with all the safety gear that I didn’t use. When I gathered the courage to clean up the scene of the crime I found the tip of my finger on the cutting board with the most clean and straight edge on it. Ignoring the physical trauma (my fault I’m an idiot) this is an extremely effective tool. Very sharp, easy to use. But I would recommend the safety gear because the thickness setting did go a little off on me. Buy this an use the glove/holder and it would really speed up your chopping process. I lost my fingertip in a matter of milliseconds so I know it works well. I threw mine away out of fear but I might buy again in the future when my finger stump heals over.

Great product and price!
Good product for the price and versatile. It isn’t the most intuitive to use but not difficult to figure out between settings/blades. I bought it to make waffle fries. It doesn’t work the best for this application ad you have to slice pretty thin in order to get holes. Otherwise works great as a slicer and is relatively easy to clean.

Sharp!
I love to cook and this slicer makes prep work a breeze. It's easy to clean. Beware the blade is extremely sharp. It comes with cut resistant gloves for safety I recommend you use them. The slicer folds down and is easy to stow away for storage in between jobs.I recommend this product for the busy cook who demands quality and consistency. You're going to be glad you chose this slicer.

Good for smaller and softer food slicing
This is a basic slicer best suited to smaller and softer foods. There are four main settings with flat slicing, large and small julienne slicing and waffle slicing. Both the flat and waffle slicing thickness can be adjusted. In use, the waffle and thin julienne setting worked well. The slicing setting created pieces that were thicker on one side than the other which made even frying of potato chips very difficult. With a russet potato on the thick julienne setting, so much force was required that the entire unit bent under the pressure. I do not recommended for potatoes, carrots, hard cheese or other hard food items with this thick julienne setting. Included are a handy pair of cut resistant gloves and a protecting food holder. I would say this unit is best used for the waffle and shoestring cutting settings.

Multiple thicknesses good, UPDATED
***UPDATE***Changed from 3 to 4 stars. The company reached out to me and said the mandolin must be defective, so they sent me a new one. I definitely appreciate their proactive attitude.I've used it twice so far and it is cutting my apples much, much better. I've created charcuterie tray and cucumber tea sandwiches. The machine worked perfectly. Still haven't tried the waffle fry function, but the main reason I bought this particular model was because it offered several thicknesses and types of cuts. And PLEASE use the protective equipment when using this device. I always do except once when I was in a hurry. Bad move... I cut part of the tip of my finger off and ended up in the er.Old review: I finally got to use this item when making apple chips. It doesn't cut as smoothly as I expected and even leaves weird ridges in the apples. I'm very careful of the blade, but noticed it has a few nicks in it and am wondering if that's why it's not cutting as smoothly as it should. Also when you slide the food item back to the top to make a new slice, there is a small ridge on the plane that small pieces of the food gets stuck in and can mess up the back-and-forth flow of the slice. The device seems sturdy and I like the multiple thickness settings and the ability to make waffle fries (which I haven't done yet)I'm a bit disappointed with this item, but will make the best of it.
