Placement is everything!
Excellent sound quality and small size make this a good purchase! The bass is surprisingly rich, especially in songs with 808 drums. Also really enhances music with strong bass lines. The closer you place the sub, the more potent it will be. I have a small car (16' ford fiesta st) and places in in my hatch. Sounds good when turned up, bass is very rich. If I had placed it under my seat however, I'd never have to turn the knob past half way. Something to consider. If you want booming bass, put it beneath your seat.

Build quality is great
Quick answer if you don't want to read this. Cerwin vega makes a spare tire sub that out performes this in every way. I have a 98 integra I put this in. It has 5.5 speakers front and back. I stalled jbl components in front and rear with a pioneer double din. It sounded great but was missing some bass. I got a cerwin Vega 12" spare tire power woofer. It $299 on here. I since took it out and put it in my other vehicle since this integra I built for performance and prefer listening to the car more than busting some tunes and would rather use it in my other car. With that said I baught this. I'd say it's equivalent to having a standard speaker setup with 6x9s. For the money you are far better off with a cerwin Vega spare tire sub. If you're not into a lot of bass you can tame it down with the controller. The Sony comes with one too but is pointless. It doesn't create near enough for the need to use anything but max. Also I found mounting this in the back hatch area better than under the seat because it allows for a better bass sound. Under the seat it makes a bad sound when the speaker hits that I personally can't stand.
