The Dry Eye Remedy: The Complete Guide to Restoring the Health and Beauty of Your Eyes

Comprehensive, effective, written by a good healthcare provider and a good man
I just finish reading the book. I rarely make a review of the thousand products I've bought from Amazon. But since, I am also a healthcare provider and a dry eye sufferer, I am so happy to encounter a book that is written for laymen, with the care for the foundation and source of the illness written with clarity, with the progression of the the gravity of the disease and the classification of the remedy from the cheapest, the most convenient, the more invasive and the comical and the pipeline in a non-technical way. The author and the healthcare provider also noted the insurance aspect, when necessary. He is generous in writing his supply sources in the book and the other places where we can ask for help. He also put his small picture of his whole body at the back of the book meaning he is not focused on himself. I sure would like to refer my patients to him when necessary. My model for a good healthcare provider is a good healthcare provider, who knows his stuff and beyond, works with his patient all the time and is generous with other healthcare providers and other people and not hang up for the patients to be dependent on the medical "deity". I like it that he also give credit to the other doctor, his partner in the surgical field. I recommend the book for all dry eye sufferers and primary healthcare providers.

Informative
This book has helped me tremendously. It gives you pretty much all the suggestions my doctors have had for me but it's better because it takes the time to explain why certain things help and why others dont. I am currently trying everything and it's slowly making a different in my dry eye. The only thing that I can't recall if he mentioned in the book was a humidifier. That has been the thing to help me out the most. I have one for my desk at work and one for my bedroom. Waking up with the humidifier...I dont have such a gritty feeling in my eyes. Anyway, the book is great! If you've been diagnosed with Dry eye, read this book and try his suggestions. Also, as a side note, I used to use a lot of red eye drops. They made the dry eye and the redness worse through time. I'm on day 5 of no red eye drops (used to use them every day). In the morning my eyes are still pretty red but they get better throughout the day and yesterday afternoon...I was happy to see the white of my eyes muuuuch whiter than before. So if one of your problems is redness, try not using the red eye drops for a few days. Hopefully you'll see a difference. Good luck!!

Severe Dry Eye Problem
I'm only a third of the way through, but the book is pretty complete. It uses easy-to-understand, plain English the causes of dry eye and some solutions to a very vexing problem.

This is a great book for dry eye sufferers
This is a great book for dry eye sufferers. I have had dry eye for awhile and am a soft lens contact wearer. The symptoms were severe enough that they severely affected by daily life and golf game. I tried over the counter products but after awhile they did not help. Chapter eight in this book describes a basic home spa treatment that really did away with all of my symptoms. Heat application followed by eyelid massage with a warm q-tip, natural eye drops to washout the eye, and Systane Ultra eyedrops. Next I put in the " Acuvue 1day" contact lenses and take three "Thera Tears Soft gels". I do this every morning and my symptoms are totally gone. This process does not happen overnight and takes a few weeks but it works. The bottom line is zero symptoms of dry eye.

Learned some things. The book is just ok. Please try using cold pressed coconut oil on your lids and lashes before going to sleep at night. It has done wonders for my dry eyes!! Also, diet is important. Vitamins, A,B, C, & D (sunshine!); take Eyebright & Bilberry herbs and Lutein. Eat omega-3 rich foods (fish), supplement with a high quality Omega-3 fish oil. Do eye palming (google the Bates method), rest your eyes, limit computer glare/stare. Cut sugar, stress. Stay hydrated and exercise.

One of the best books on Dry Eye
This is one of the best books on Dry Eye. The author is an eye doctor and gives detailed information on what is dry eye and explanations of the treatments available. In addition, there is an appendix that has lots of resources and product information. This is the first book I read on this topic because I have dry eye. After reading this book, I bought a few of the products listed in the back of the book; and I am glad I did. Some of the simple products the author lists in the back are a great help to living with dry eye. Another excellent book on Amazon is called, Dry Eye Solutions (kindle). This book is special because it describes new dry eye research that is currently being developed and it lists several online forums where people discuss their dry eye problems and exchange information such as new treatments, products and home remedies. Dry Eye Remedy
This book is very informative and written so that anyone can understand it. The author gives you everything you need to know about the causes of dry eye, types of dry eye and options for treatment without going into so much medical detail that you lose interest. There are a lot of good suggestions for simple things you can do to improve the symptoms of dry eye as well as medical treatments that are available. I highly recommend this book for anyone suffering from dry eye, apparently a very common condition.

Don't waste your money
This book is very basic. Nothing earth shattering here. Everything in here is online for free. Some advice was just bad and made things worse. I wish I could say it was great and I feel so much better after reading this book but no

I found this book extremely useful to help to understand the different causes of the dry eye condition. This book has a well-thought structure and starts by explaining how healthy eyes work and all the parts involved in it. I felt treated like "a number" when I had my hospital appointments with three ophthalmologists, I understand that they have no much time to explain how things work and affect us, however, since it is a life time condition, I believe that more support should be given to us.If you have initiative and you feel puzzled by the explanations provided by your ophthalmologist, this is a great book to help you in your journey with dry eyes. Strongly recommended.

Whether your eyes are dry or not... read it!
A while ago my eyes started to feel very dry during the night. It was a terrible experience and after going to a few eye doctors who gave me little options other than artificial tears and a cream which did nothing to solve my problem I needed some answers! True... in an eye hospital they told me to do the eye spa Dr. Latkany talks about but that too didn't do much for me. When the ophthalmologist presses against the edge of the eyelid a lot of stuff seems to come out which doesn't happen when I do it at home, even after having warmed my eyes for a while. Still this book had a lot of very useful and even important information! Dr. Latkany talks about different medication you can be prescribed and how they affect your eyes, about problems one can have with the liquids for the contact lenses, hormonal therapy for dry eyes, plugs to keep the tears from evaporating, over the counter treatments and much more. It was a real eye opener! As I wear contact lenses this problem is really terrible for me although, funny enough, during the day things are more or less well! My problem is the dryness during the night! Right now I am trying to minimize it with natural therapies as I also have a dry mouth during the night. I have been tested for Sjogren's but luckily don't have it! As I have found a way of solving other health issues I hope I will also solve this one! There is another book on dry eyes which seemed interesting but I haven't read it yet. Maybe someone who read both could make a comparison? This book needs a follow up edition as in the meanwhile many other solutions must have come on the market! As far as us European readers go the trouble is that most of the brands suggested aren't available here in Europe and all the addresses given at the end of the book are in the USA!

Every optometrist should have this book
Got some more good tips from this book, even after I had been to a couple of eye doctors about my dry eyes. Every optometrist should have this book handy and offer to patients with dry eyes.
