I've used this a lot already
Originally bought to drill post holes in the ground, it worked really well. It's strong and good quality, so made light of the job. You do need to be careful not to drill too fast as it can wrench your hand when the bit gets stuck in the ground and the drill starts to turn instead of the bit. It was the perfect size for the posts that I used. I also used it to take an old post out of the ground by drill around it to loosen all the compacted soil. The post was soon loosened enough to be able to pull it out with ease. Great value item.

Good price and product, with limitations
The auger is designed to fit into an electric drill having a hexagonal top for the chuck to grip. As a side note, this ideally should be a mains powered drill or at least have a spare, charged battery to hand. The auger digs in very well and the ‘business end’ stands up to punishment well. That unfortunately cannot be said for the hexagonal end as this, in my case, quickly rounded making the augur unable to be driven and spinning in the chuck at quite low torque when for instance encountering damp clay soil or a small root. All this to say that, for the price, it has done its job, but don’t expect ‘industrial’ quality.

Perfect for bulb planting and no need to bend down
Bought for the wife who is constantly adding Bluebells and Snowdrops to our woodland garden and spends most of the time digging the bulbs in with a trowel on her knees. The length of this auger enables her to stand and drill multiple holes in a group very quickly and then simply drop the bulbs in and back-fill. It makes the job so much easier, quicker and more consistent. The only observation is that you need to ‘hold’ the drill-bit back to prevent it from simply drilling in too deeply without removing the soil. If you lift the drill up and down as you go this will ensure the hole is cleared of soil and not suddenly swallow the auger bit. It would also have been helpful if the blades had extended longer up the shaft to enable deeper holes for stakes but this is its secondary use as the increased ease for bulb planting is its forte. Well made with solid shaft unlike some other hollow versions and the diameter of the hole is perfect for dropping a bulb in and allowing your pinched fingers to press in the soil behind it. Not had it long enough to have encountered any issues apart from hitting the odd tree root and having to back out and move the spot over. Used with a an old corded drill and long extension lead as this drill has a side handle for steady control and a speed limiter on it so it could be set not to run away and bury itself more quickly. Good tool and well worth having in the shed. I’m no gardener but the wife would spend all day on the garden if she could and she really likes using it and has planted many bulbs since getting it.

Great to use
Makes bulb planting SO quick. But beware if you have any bits of bark below the surface as when it hits one your wrist flies round!

Does the job even in tough clay
I naught this to help me dig a dry sump next to a pond. The ground is hard clay and was pretty hard to dig. This auger made light work of breaking up the clay so I could remove it with a post hole shovel. It needs a pretty good drill and you need to be careful as the drill motor gets pretty warm so make sure you give it time to cool down or risk burning out your drill. Also if the auger catches the drill will swing round so watch your wrist, use the slow speed high torque setting on your drill.

NOT SOLID STEEL. Bends on Use!
Pros; *Cheap *Long The aim is to use it plunger style. In a bit, out, in a bit out and repeat. If you go in too far it can rip the drill right out of you hand and damage you in the process. Slow and steady is the way to go. I use a post hole digger for wider deeper holes, and a digging bar, which I prefer. But if you only need small hole for planting this is okay. Cons: *Cheap *Metal??. Not steel. Feels flimsy. It does work, but you have to be careful as it bends. I have purchased other which are much sturdier and feel more like the solid steel I was expecting with this one. *Took a while to come. I was about to complain when it arrived. Would I buy another one from this seller, probabaly not.

Helpful tool when erecting a rotary drier
I got this to facilitate installing the ground spike for a rotary drier. Previous attempts to drive in the spike led to it being very off-vertical. I made a rough jig out of scrap wood to assist in keeping the auger vertical. When drilling, you need to avoid forcing the tool as it will bite into the soil and stall the drill. Also allow the auger to bring the spoil to the surface. I used an 18v cordless drill on slow speed and successfully excavated to 16" depth. As a bonus I used the augur when planting a number of daffodil bulbs. just the right size, job done in minutes.

This product saves a lot of time and back acke.
Great product saves all the backache from planting bulbs, just use your cordless drill to the depth recommended for your bulbs quick and easy. Very well made this is the second product from this company I have the smaller one highly recommended.

Tolles Produkt
