It works great, but, it was a little bit more complicated to install than I anticipated because of the potential steam buildup (they have to drill a hole into the drain and put a collar on it to vent the steam), and the electrical was set up differently on the previous flash heater, so there was an electrical cost.

*** Contacted customer support, and they promptly seem to be a new heater!Watch a very well for two years. But now it has broken. It actually received very little use as it was in a guest bathroom.

The safety valve that had to be screwed on the line sticking straight up leaks and the thermostat is terrible. When it comes on it heats the water scalding hot then it cools to almost room temperature before heating back to scalding hot again. The adjustment doesn't appear to work either. I thought about complaining but I don't want another one.

I was unable to get any feedback on compatibility with drinking water, so I only use the water for washing dishes. I turned the temperature to the max and it is almost too hot to touch, but my wife likes it there. I measured it at 120 degrees. The first drops that come out are hot, but it drops from there. After a gallon, the temperature is 110. But it recovers the temperature quickly. So if you don't mind the variation in temperature, this will work fine. I only use a gallon to wash dishes and I don't mind. None of the other 2.5 gallon water heaters fit under my sink.

I've gone through two of these and neither one worked. The 1st one worked for about two weeks, the 2nd one worked for two minutes.

Works great!
