This is a great center punch. Ever try to drill a hole (even in a drill press) and watch your bit walk to the side a bit? Well this is your solution. Actually, I'll admit that I've never used a center punch before purchasing this one, but I wish I had bought one years ago. I bought this for creating divots to drill accurate holes in rectangular aluminum tubing. I also used it on mild steel and tried it on wood. It works great all around! To use this thing, you just put the point where you want the divot and push hard on the orange top. The internal spring compresses, and then it snaps driving the point into whatever you are trying to mark. You can screw/unscrew the end of it to increase/decrease spring tension. For metal, just leave it on the max setting. Dial it down for wood.

These work very well. I put a cork backing under the material I'm punching. Nice size options. Sharp. Easy to use spring loaded center punch.

I use this tool often to punch small holes into aluminum for my hand stamped jewelry. Very durable and good quality. I have smaller and slightly arthritic hands and this tool is easy and painless for me to press down on and use. I found most of the tools I tried that were actually made for aluminum jewelry were too weak and hard to use. These are great. The only thing I’d change is that they came with an even smaller hole option as I use the smallest one already. Great tool! I look forward to using all the other options for much larger projects.

Doing lathe work, finding the center of a piece of wood is easy, using this device, marking the center is a breeze.

So for decades I've been using my dad's old manual center punch (the kind you hit with a hammer) which has always worked just fine for me. But I watched a video of a guy using one of these self-contained center punches and thought I'd give it a go since the item was surprisingly affordable. I wasn't expecting anything too fantastic or even useful. I was delighted to discover that this thing works FANTASTICALLY! Nobody could be more surprised than me. I used it on metal (mostly aluminum and steel) so I crank it down to the "strongest" setting, ie giving the hardest "punch", and it leaves a very impressive divot that is easy for a drill to stay centered on. It's use is so easy that I typically trigger this device 3-4 times in quick succession jus to ensure I have a good dent made but I'm pretty sure just a single punch would answer the mail as far as drilling goes. One single triggering of this punch gives at least as good a result as my dad's old center punch that I have to hit with the hammer, probably better; unquestionably much better if I trigger multiple times in quick succession. It is now the only punch I use, since it is so convenient not having to grab a big hammer along with the punch to make a starting divot. And easily done with just one hand to boot! I highly recommend!

I have bought about 5 other 22mm chisels to punch out holes in 1/16 abs plastic. This is the only one that held up. I honestly had no business using chisels to punch out holes on this scale, but it was all I had to work with in the short term. After punching over 10,000 holes in plastic my chisel had finally broke. Some people would be discouraged over this, but I couldn’t be more impressed that it held up for as long as it did. I beat this poor tool to death and finally broke it on the second to last plastic sheet I was working on. I’m recommending this arc punch set to anyone that is looking at the competition. I have used them all, and I have broken them all. This one was the sharpest, toughest, and most durable one I’ve encountered. The only downside was having to unscrew the punch to remove the plastic circles. Time was the price I paid for quality, durability, and consistency. 5 stars for my ol broken arc punch that served me well.

This tool has come in handy for so many small projects. Keep on top of oiling the dyes though as they are prone to rusting rather quickly.

It works, and will punch through quite strong materials. But, you need to have massive hands, or use two hands, and if you use two hands, then there is the danger of hurting your hands because of the very small gap between the handles. Incredibly fast delivery. Thank you.
