My Dog Loves These
I wasn’t sure what to make of these when I first opened the bottle. They look like oversized pills and I wondered how I was supposed to give them to my tiny Cavalier King Charles. I did not have to wonder for long, however, because as soon as my dog smelled them, she came running to try one. She absolutely loves them, and although I purchased them for the health benefits, I now use them as a treat for her. I like them because they seem to be excellent quality, perform well, and were a great value for the money!

I'd like to tell people who own dogs that have been ...
I normally don't write reviews, however, I'd like to tell people who own dogs that have been diagnosed with Calcium Oxalate bladder/kidney stones, this product (along with proper diet - can't stress enough) has cured my dog of all stones, proven through x-ray, in my 13 year old ShihTzu. It was astonishing to see they were gone - she was able to pass them - and most importantly - not form new ones by adding one tablet twice per day. This is against all odds - I've been repeatedly told this condition is incurable and will have to be surgically removed every few years to avoid this excruciating painful disease. (She had expensive surgery to remove at 5 years of age.). Vet K-Cit-V has kept my pet free of stones for the past 8 years. This product is a Godsend. A must if your pet has Calcium Oxalate stones!

It works!
This tablet is really too large for a small dog, and my 25-lb mega-mutt won’t even try to chew it. So I crumble it and mix it into her wet food every day, and it has successfully amended her urinary pH!

Works as stated
Needed Potassium Citrate for my dog to increase the pH of his urine and hopefully bond to the calcium oxidate crystals. The pills are handy because if you are trying to find the correct dosage you can grind them up in a mortar and pestle and use a "jeweler's" scale to get the right amount. For example Ted is 14 lb terrier. I give him 1.8g three times a day ~6AM, 2pm, 9 pm. I measure out a bunch in some old spice jars for a couple of days in advance. That keeps him in a pretty balanced space. As the other reviewers noted, just need pH strips to adjust. All of the other options are prescription and pretty expensive.

No oxalate inducing cranberry
My dog has had surgery 3 times for stones. I had been using another brand of potassium citrate to manage pH levels that, like most supplements that claim to help to prevent stones, had cranberry added. My vet advised that cranberry is actually high in oxalates and I should stop using anything with cranberry. This is one of the only that I have found to be cranberry free. Time will tell if it's effective. I will update at a later date.

Product not worth wasting your money
3/4 of the bottle was crushed and I didn't feel comfortable playing the guessing game of if its enough or to much I gave my dog since my little guy has health problems. Vet said not to give it to him. Don't worth ur money at all.

Works great to prevent calcium oxalate stones would highly recommend!
I started getting these two yrs ago for my now 12 yr old schnoodle. He had to undergo surgery for his calcium oxalate bladder stones. They removed at least 30 stones. I must say these are amazing he has not had any stones in over two yrs. he is 45 pounds and the bottle recommends 1 per ten pound but he only needs three. I used testing strips to see how acidic his urine was to decide how many to give him. The vet also put him on a low protein diet with no dry food. The health science food was what she recommended but we went with reg canned food not prescription and everything seems to b fine. So all in all I would defiantly recommend these if ur dog is experiencing calcium oxalate bladder stones due to high acidic urine.

My dog loves these!
My Shishon has had ongoing bladder issues for about 3 years now. He's almost 7. This year we figured out that he developed bladder stones and that's what was causing his pain & blood in his urine. (Yuck/scary!) so, I now feed him the royal canon urinary s/o food (he loves it!) and I give him these tablets. I hope they break up the stones so he doesn't need surgery- I'd hate to put him through that. Fingers crossed! He does like the taste and gets 1/2 pill 2 times a day. Good price here on Amazon, too.
