We bought the brio smart tech set last year for Christmas and the train is starting to get tired. It’s great that there is a replacement train. My son loves this train and the full set is awesome!

My grandson has been enjoying hours with the toys (and so has his parents!) Bought another Smart Tech piece. Unfortunately the motor on that one was broken. Returning item now but had to ship to England so still waiting to get credit for that. We had to pay the shipping and will get back about 75% of the cost.

We initially loved this train which was purchased for my two year old grandson. After a few months of play the train stopped working properly. It operates on the tracks as normal but stops at each and every interactive item such as tunnels and arches. It does not make sounds anymore or record sound. This item was very expensive and we expected many more years of play from a company such as Brio. I am very disappointed in this item. Now we have a handful of interactive train accessories that do not operate as intended. Waste of money.

We’ve had this train for about a year now and my four and five year olds (a boy and a girl) both love it. There are mixed reviews out there because people don’t read the instructions. Download the app and update the train first to load the sounds and movements on it. Then - voilá it works great with all the smart tech pieces. My kids love driving it through the app. You can change the headlight color and record your own sounds. Granted, they like to record fart noises and just say butt over and over on it but still it’s very much enjoyed. Be sure to hold the button down to power on and off. It’s not a quick press. If it isn’t functioning properly consider the batteries. The headlights turn red when they’re low. The engine could be a little stronger but it can pull three or four cars up an incline which is plenty for my kids. It stays on course fairly well too despite three or four different brands of track we use. Definitely a fun buy that has kept their interest longer than I thought. They get bored of playing trains but keep playing because they think recording the sounds is so funny.

The train is cute and works well with app, but it has never registered the tunnel that came with it, so the sound doesn’t play when the train runs through it. Not sure what the issue is, but it was disappointing, especially considering the high price for this item. We previously purchased another sound tunnel in a different set and the train registers that one so I supposed we just got a broken one in this set. After reading some reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence.

This train has cool features and customization options but I would not buy it again. After getting it for my 4 year old for Christmas it has seen heavy play use, requiring new batteries almost weekly (annoying and wasteful), and it has now broken and no longer works (also wasteful). Would not recommend.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing. This product worked for less than 24 hours. It does not communicate with the other Smart Tech sound products (tunnels, waterfall). Huge waste of money and my child was very disappointed. Don’t buy!!!

You can say something in the microphone and then every time the train rides through the thing it will repeat just what you said, fun for five times and then no kid has any more interest in it, so don't waste you money, better give it a away to the poor.
