No! Misleading name... Made in China, and the box isn't 3 different taps. All 3 are the same. Worthless waste of time and money.

is this a set of 3 or 4 or just 1?

Items are available individually on in a set of 3. If they are a taper, plug or bottoming tap you are receiving one tap. If it is a "Set" you are receiving three taps: 1 taper, 1 plug and 1 bottoming.

How do I get a 1/4x20 tap with a shank diameter smaller than thread dia. The one I received has a larger shank dia.

They do not always provide what you will get in reality on a 1/4x20 tap picture... So, it is better to take reality in your own hands and make shank exactly what you need.
