Separated the yolk nicely

I like the retro look of this. It's great quality. It's dishwasher safe. The hook on the end sits securely over the edge of the container, so there is no possibility of it slipping off into the dish, and the handle is long enough to lay straight across the dish so it can be used hands-free for those of us that require two hands to open eggs. My results have been mixed. I let the eggs come to room temperature first. For eggs with thin whites it works great. For fresh eggs with thick whites, I've had varying success. I've had yolks break when I put them in this, and I wasn't dropping them from a great height, and have had a couple slide right through the side of the spiral as I was transferring them and splat on the counter. Now I use this over a heavy water glass and only do one at a time, to avoid the possibility of a broken yolk getting into a batch of whites. Probably half the time I still end up using the back and forth in the eggshell method, or the filter the white through your fingers method, at some point during the separation process. It all depends on the eggs.

Separator works perfectly, makes separating the yolks super easy. Also, you get more of the whites and less chance of getting shell pieces compared to juggling the yolk back and forth between the shell halves.
