I wear my hair in locs and my scalp tends to be very dry. Before i had locs, i had no problem finding a product that would keep my scalp moisturized. This past two years however, every product i have tried leaves my scalp so incredibly dry. Either the formulas have changed or longer hair simply requires more moisturizing. I finally got tired of trying to make products like Sulphur 8, Morrocan oil, etc work for me and i switched over to mineral oils. I tried Tea Tree oil, Jojoba, Avocado, Vitamin E, Peach oil....you name it i tried it. My scalp would feel great for a couple of days and then it was back to the drawing board. I was at my wits end when i stumbled across Jamaican Black Castor oil. I purchased it with great skepticism, truth be told, i was expecting more of the same. Product Details The oil is extra dark as they describe it and it is extremely thick. It doesn't appear to have been diluted in any way. MY EXPERIENCE I washed and dried my hair as i normally do, and applied the castor oil to my scalp. The texture of the oil felt great on my scalp and my scalp felt wonderful as i massaged the oil in. The best part?... the oil was too thick to run down my scalp and it was also thick enough to tighten and hold my locs in place. My scalp stayed moisturized for the entire week, my hair felt soft to the touch and my itchy scalp is a thing of the past. The oil is not completely odorless, it has a faint smell of ...well...castor oil. My biggest issue with hair oils is that the oil tends to leave marks on my pillow....haven't had that problem with Black Castor oil

I am an African American female in my 50s, with fine hair. In the past, my hair suffered from over-processing and I spent approximately 3 years with hair weaves. Unfortunately, the weaves had taken its toll on my hair and my hair began to bald on the top in addition to the edges thinning out even more. I was given this product by a beautician but it sat on my shelf for a year while I tried to cover my hair with wigs. I went natural and no longer have traces of relaxed hair so I started using the JBCO. Well, well, well...after 1 month there was a noticeable difference so I ordered more from Amazon. It has been approximately 6 months since I started using the product and the bald spot has filled in so much so that I now feel comfortable wearing my natural in public with twist outs. Here's the kicker, because it worked so well on my hair, I decided to thicken my thin eyebrows. I applied it to my eyebrows at night and massaged it in for about 2 mins and viola...my eyebrows are full and beautiful after just 5 weeks. My edges did grow back; however, because of too many years of abuse, they will never totally fill in completely. I agree with other reviewers; there is a smell, somewhat of a burnt odor. I did some research, the smell may be due to the ash that is added from roasted castor beans into the oil. This product works but you have to develop a regiment. I use it every other or third day. I use it sparingly and massage the areas for 2-4 mins. You won't see drastic changes overnight but give it some time and the difference will be incredible. Packaging, as always was great with Amazon and shipping was free and delivered in 2 days with Amazon Prime.

Works great

This is EXtra Dark n thick. Has a natural ash scent but disappears after a while. Bottle container was good except the cork was loose from travels. It leaked, lost almost a 1/4 of the oil content. Sellers should wrap the plastic cork with tape, preventing it from loosening. Or choose another cork. Otherwise, everything else was fine.

This is truly a miracle in a bottle. I use this for my hair and my skin.

I love the thickness and rich texture of this castor oil. But most importantly I love the my skin is nourished from using it!

Great for dry hair. Smell is not the best.

Nice product so thick and worth the price, good for hair to lock in the after moisturizing my hair.

1- Currently using this extra dark castor oil overnight every 3-4 days with Peppermint Oil from about 1.5 months to get thicker hair; I might mix in flaxseed oil to the whole mix to make the hair mask slightly thicker. 2- The quality of the oil has been consistent and is natural to the point where it had, what looked to be, natural roots within the bottle. My 2 Cents: Given the thicker consistency of the product compared to cheaper castor oil it, at least seems to me, to be more nutritious for the hair. It's worth trying if you don't mind the higher price difference compared to ordinary castor oil.
