Yes, it is greasy. Same as Vaseline.
Bought this for my hand that suffered an allergic reaction to a ring. Application of hydrocortisone diminishes the blister and sores but leaves my hand very dry and rough. Bought this after reading recommendations online. The product is like Vaseline. It leaves your hand greasy. I cannot/will not grab anything unless I wipe it off. Although it says non-greasy feel - true only because you can’t feel it on cracked hand. But it is greasy. No odor though. The ointment is so thick that it does not come out of the tube easily. I guess it was not tested before distribution. I do not recommend it. Get something else for less money, with better result, and user friendly.

It's petroleum jelly
Lately, everything makes my skin break out. I heard good things about this brand. I bought the eye cream, the AM and PM lotion and this. Two of the packages arrived open, on the PM cream the lock of the dispenser was already turned to open. I previously used Vanicream but found the AM lotion not rich enough for may mature skin (and neither is the CeraVe line). This particular cream is just petroleum jelly with some extra stuff. I almost cannot get it out of the tube because it's very thick and sticky. Works great on heels but I needed something for my face and I wish I would have read the ingredient list, because petrolatum (mineral oil) makes me break out. This and the AM and PM also has silicone in it, not something I was looking for either.

Indistinguishable from plain petroleum jelly
Normally CeraVe products are a shoe-in for me, so maybe that caused me to not investigate this product enough before I bought it. It's petroleum jelly. Whatever else they add or take away you can't tell. It might smell the tinest bit better, but that's a stretch. It's not moisturizing - it's an occlusive, so it helps create a barrier to keep the moister in your skin in where it should be, but it's not going to be like a lotion. The best use would be "slugging" where you put a moisturizer on and put this on top to maximize what your skin can absorb (just be careful of the active ingredients in the lotion.) I do use it just like petroleum jelly so it does go on any cuts, irritated noses from blowing too much, just anywhere you want that barrier.

So greasy & yet so drying!
From my wife: This does exactly the opposite of what it's supposed to! I do not understand the good reviews. It's so so greasy. Which a lot of reviews mentioned and which I would be willing to overlook if it actually worked but within 30 minutes my hands were so so dry! And I had not washed my hands since putting on the so called lotion. The "lotion" actually dried my hands! It did exactly the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Worst lotion ever!

Extremely greasy, didn't have any effect
I've used a variety of products on my hands in the last couple of years as they have become dry and chapped pretty frequently likely due to the hard water I bathe in. The Cerave daily moisturizing lotion is the best lotion I have tried. It gives temporary relieve, but it really doesn't do anything to heal my issue. This product does neither. It goes on so greasy that I'm not able to touch anything for a good 10-15 minutes after applying, and after using it for a couple of weeks, I've seen no improvement in my hands at all. The fact that it was advertised as being "non-greasy" is the reason why I purchased it. The fact that it is extremely greasy means I won't be able to trust that "feature" in Cerave products ever again.

Greasy and gross smelling!
This product leaves your hands very GREASY. I have no idea why it says 'non-greasy' on the package. This couldn't be more false. This also smells like gasoline. Just imagine your hands covered in a thick layer of vaseline.

Total joke. Never again.
I can’t believe this is a Cerave product. As someone who swears by Cerave’s lotion, moisturizing cream, PM lotion, and Skin Renewing Night Cream, I am appalled by the Healing Ointment. It’s worth noting that I’m also comparing the HO to Aquaphor, a holy grail product that I’ve used year-round since forever. I purchased the HO solely out of curiosity, since Cerave is obviously trying to go after Aquaphor. The tube packaging makes for awkward and uncomfortable dispensing, given the ointment’s thick texture. And the plastic breaks down from repeated squeezing, resulting in dents and white creases all over and, worse, holes. There is a hole in the bottom right corner of the tube (pictured) that has rendered the cap aperture totally useless; it’s easier to squeeze the product out of the hole in the corner. The ointment has always been stored standing upright on either end in a cabinet at room temperature. Yet it started to separate (pictured) not long after arrival. Thin oil spills out for a good few seconds before any actual “ointment” emerges. This happens EVERY TIME, no matter which hole it comes out of. Endless tube massaging has proved useless. The oil separation is permanent. As for the efficacy? It’s greasy at first, but once it fully absorbs, visible dry patches emerge within a couple hours. Aquaphor, on the other hand, not only absorbs but eliminates all dryness for hours on end, if not a full day. Ditto Vaseline. On the lips the HO is instantly runny, and when applied the night before there are large peeling flakes the next morning. I paid $13.50 for the HO and it’s no surprise that it’s now $8. I wouldn’t even take it for free.

Changed the formula
They changed the formula without warning now it’s far too thick and greasy. My sensitive skin does not like it anymore. Mind you, I used this product for years with no issues. I now need to look for a new moisturizer.

This ointment is really a miracle for itchy skin! I been using benzoyl peroxide cleanser and I follow up with my A ret cream after skin care which caused my skin to be extremely dry and itchy at night time, it’s really working amazingly without clogging my pores or breaking out my skin!
