Very nice with a reasonable price

I am a hard sell on quality with board game items. I was very surprised when I received this set as to the overall quality of both the pieces and the box. The pieces are nicely crafted, perfect size and weight, and clean finish without marks or rubbish. These qualify as a solid intermediate quality player set--suitable for casual or competition play. One can spend more money, but this means simply buying more style or luxury quality. For a modern Staunton set, one cannot go wrong here. I am guessing (as the country of origin is not listed on the box) that these are made in Germany or Eastern Europe. Great value, nice aesthetics, weight and size perfect. Get them and play!

Wooden, large size chessboard pieces. The fact that they come in a box keeps them safe. Traveling with a large box, not so easy, however these are nice pieces. I bought them as a back-up. My kids live to play chess and take with them while camping. Late night sitting around that campfire or to the beach while camping. Nice pieces. Our chessboard is on the larger side and these work well. The base of each piece is felted. Each has decent weight. Made in Poland. Used my nail scrubber to show size of pieces to give you a better idea re size.

This wooden chess set is the best value for your dollar. It is nice for day to day play. Pieces could be a little heavier but still has a good weight and feel. They are durable and solid. The pieces come in a nice wooden box. The king is almost 4 inches in height. Each piece looks good but this set is not the really nice set you would setup for display as decoration. I would get a higher quality set. The price is great. The pieces are large and look really good on a 18"x18" wooden chess board.

When playing blitz with tight time controls you want a chess set that is durable and easy to move. They have just the right weight and feel. Just what I was looking for. I wish they came with the extra queens. I am thinking I might order a second set at this price just to have the extra queens.

This set would make the perfect gift for a loved one or even yourself. The box is handy and the pieces have that Goldilocks factor. Not too big. Not too small. Some of the felt on the bottoms are off center or slightly too thick, but that’s easily remedied. Buy it.

Good feel and weight is perfect. This is a good piece set.

The pieces have improved since the earlier review concerning the King with glue. There's no excess glue on the pieces. Though the felt still has some issue but none that warrants much comment herein. The storage box however, ought to be more sturdy i.e. the fittings as depicted need to be a bit stronger. They are flimsy and a drop will easily break the hinges and it doesn't seal properly. Nevertheless, its still sturdy heavy wood chess pieces.

Fir for purpose and a great size for hubby and his home made chess board

Buen aspecto, muy bonitas. Bien acabado. Tamaño y tacto perfectos. Peso muy asecuado. La caja de guardarlas preciosa y bien compartimentalizada. Reación calidad precio muy acertado. Lo convierten en un gran producto.

A pesar de estar en cuarentena, llego mucho mas rápido de lo esperado, su diseño muy bien y las piezas bastante agradables. Lo único fue que no pude rastrear mi paquete, porque venia de USA a MX, pero el producto bastante bien.

Impressive Polish handicraft. Wood grain shows on the chess pieces, especially the black pieces. There are extra queens. The pawns are good-looking and well-proportioned with large rounded heads that stick out prominently. The knights have nostrils and a wry smile on their mouths. The pieces are fat and well-nourished so they look good on a StonKraft or A&A boards with 2.25 squares. Of all the various chess pieces I have, I use this one almost exclusively.

Very happy with these! Full disclosure, they are not perfect. A little bit rough in places but I like them. Slightly weighted, which is nice, good felt base, nice colouring, nice woodwork. Yes, the cross on the king isn’t perfectly straight, yes the knights are a bit rough but if you wanted perfect knights I think you’d buy a different set. All in all, these are lovely pieces to play with. The bishop is a good, classic shape, the rook has proper crenellations so it can be inverted if needed, and there are some extra little details which are just quite nice. Also, the pieces fit easily in the box without having to be a Tetris expect! I think ultimately what you choose is down to personal preference, but what you see is what you get with these and they are genuinely lovely to play with!
