I make a lot of mixes comprised of shelf stable powders such as gravies, bullions, soups, breads, ranch dressing, etc. One thing I must have on my panty shelf is buttermilk pancake mix. This powder has a myriad of other uses often giving a richer flavor to the dish over just milk. For ideas, run an internet search. This could be a valuable introduction to adding a little oomph to your favorite dishes.

I have been using this product for quite sometime and I am never disappointed. There is no clumping. My buttermilk biscuits, and Pancakes have never been better.

buttermilk in the stores is crazy expensive, but I love using it for breads and as a treat for the cats. milk powder is an ingredient in so many bread recipes and there is no way on earth I'd use the standard milk powder found on the shelves in supermarkets. began looking for something better on amazon and discovered several possible choices. ordered this one because they were the first to get back to me re rgbh (they're rgbh-free). the "richness" of this powder is visible to the naked eye, and it adds a wonderful depth to the taste of breads. it also improves the texture, making the bread chewier, which is my preference. now every loaf of bread gets either this powder or the hoosier hill heavy cream powder, so I'm basically using it daily. two pounds is "a lot," but I'll probably have to reorder (both powders) in another couple of months. looking forward to reusing their empty containers, too! most of my cats now are seniors, and the big thing for me is keeping them hydrated, their weight up, and spoiling them rotten for the time they have remaining. so every night I put two heaping tablespoons of either the buttermilk powder or the heavy cream powder in a bowl, add a couple of raw eggs, blend them, then add about a cup of water. they love this so much they start meowing for it every time they see me at the bread machine. this mix is enough for seven cats, and it's devoured in minutes. I'd probably try a different brand if this became unavailable, but I hope it never becomes unavailable! if I can find a good freezer during the january sales, I may buy a few of each for backup. hoosier hill farms milk powders are PHENOMENAL!

I make my own ranch powder with this to use as salad dressing or to flavor casseroles. It's great for our family as it is celiac safe.
