Q: Will these bulbs work with the "Smart Life" app?

it does NOT work with Smart life... I followed Robert Bell's review and got disappointed when it got here

How many do you need? You can set a morning and evening schedule....and more....download the tapo app for more guidance

Q: Are these bulbs white in colour when switched off?

Yes, the colour is white when switched off. This applies to both the plain white hue & the multi colour hue versions. The video depicts the multi hue variant. I think they are very versatile lights, with great customization, all controlled via the excellent app. However, you do need a strong & stable broadband WiFi signal to get the best use of them. Hope this helps.
