Henry Lambertz - Milk Chocolate Covered Lebkuchen Shapes - 500g/17.6 Oz

I’ve been enjoying Lebkuchen since my first trip to Germany courtesy of the US Army many (many!) years ago. I still bring back a few boxes whenever I go over there, but these COVID times have been hard on travel and was I afraid I wouldn’t have any Lebkuchen around the house this holiday season. Amazon to the rescue! These filled the bill for me. The chocolate was tasty and the gingerbread soft; flavorful, but not too sweet, they were just right with morning coffee or evening hot chocolate. They came well packaged (some one-star reviewers said theirs were broken, but mine were fine), complete (two boxes of eighteen to a box, as advertised), and were as fresh as you’d expect (of course they were not ‘straight from the bakery’ fresh, but their packaging kept them from being stale). A Christmas time staple - we love these cookies and buy them every year!!

These are nice, rich, fresh, soft full bodied gingerbread cookies. The chocolate is delicious. The combination of the the chocolate and soft cookie just melts in your mouth. They are big cookies, too. I had others that were dry and flavorless. I will buy these again.UPDATE; I bought some of these cookies recently and they were very dry. The flavor was still good and the chocolate was good, but the cookie was dried out. They were fresh during the Christmas Holidays.

It’s the product I know and love but it is a little more stale then when gotten at the source.

These Gingerbread cookies are super soft and really tasty.I like German gingerbread in many different varieties and textures, but this one is one of my favorites. The individual cookie is nice and big (almost like a donut) and has a nice soft texture (like banana bread). The flavor has a good amount of gingerbread spice and brown sugar in it. The finishing touch is a delicious milk chocolate coating that is firm yet soft and not crackling.I think these are some of the best gingerbread cookies around.

When I eat this, my belly feels sweetened: hard to explain, but true. Very digestible, delicious gingerbread. Perfect texture.The chocolate is very light in flavor; I would have preferred just a hint stronger, but not too much stronger. It may be a question of taste, though, because the gingerbread comes through better.Beware not to be tempted to eat the whole package at once.

I ordered 2 boxes: they are suppose to have 18 cookies, but there are only 117 in each box. They are each missing a cookie. And, in one box the cookies are all smashed. That's a lot of money to pay for cookies that don't arrive as advertised and anticipated!
