Good Emergency Package for the Car
I bought a bunch of these for my friends. We live in California in an area where there tends to be fires. I know if any of us have to evacuate in long lines of traffic at least there is water and a food bar in our trunks. I appreciate the sturdy container in which these emergency supplies are packaged as well as the good price. And I greatly appreciate knowing my friends have something to fall back on in unexpected evacuations.

Perfect!
I ordered this at 11pm, and it was on my door step before I even woke up at 2pm! The package came exactly as pictured and exactly as described! You can see in the picture the product expires in 2028 so the shelf life expectancy is accurate. I am extremely pleased! I will update my review with a taste test close to expiration date in 28 if I'm lucky enough not to need it before then.

Good supplies, but not an Emergency KIT
So, if you read the product description, you know this already. It's not a Emergency KIT by any means, instead it's a combination of the minimum food and water for a less-than-active person for a survival scenario PLUS a bonus mylar emergency blanket. That's 2 pouches of emergency water (4.225 fluid oz each) and 2 sections (of 6) of food concentrate (each has 400 kcal). That's why I say it's for less-than-active emergencies, where you're set in place. You'll be hungry and thirsty, but it'll keep you fed and hydrated enough to be alert for rescue. You can buy this and toss it in your dorm, office, closet or car and have the basics set up for emergencies. If you're in a real disaster area, or want to be more prepared, you'll add a lot more "stuff" - blankets, emergency tools, signaling devices and radios, but it's never a bad place to start! And it's useful if you already have such kits and need to rotate out your supplies, even with a 5 year shelf life (all of mine came with about 4 years of 5 remaining, which I consider more or less normal for such things).

Good kit for the car!
I ordered 2 of these kits for my wife's vehicle and they are exactly what I was looking for. Each kit comes with (6)Six pouches filled with water, (1)One 2400 calorie meal bar(that is vacuumed sealed), and a mylar blanket. Expiration date on both kits showing January 2017(This review was made in July 2012) The meal bar is a Datrex 2400F bar, the overall approximate size is 4" wide, 2" thick, and 3" high. It is packaged in a very sturdy mylar bag that is vacuum sealed. This meal bar contains 12 smaller bars/rations(200 calories each) that are to be consumed every 6 hours (Giving you 800 calories a day)and has enough to supply one person for 3 days. Overall, its a good kit with the basics... For the price, I plan on ordering a few more in the near future.

Peace of mind
Provides peace of mind when added to your vehicles emergency kit. It takes up very little space. Add a few blankets, first aid kit, and a flashlight you will be prepared if stranded for multiple days. Also works as a shelter in place kit.

May 2021
Ive bought 2 of these. Both had the 2026 "shelf" life. I opened both boxes to ensure the food bars packaging was nice and vaccumed tight and wasnt punctured. I got these mainly as something I cood give to my girlfriends family in the event of a Major Disaster or Event as I keep a good size of food amd supplies prepped already. The price of under $15 is nice too because usually you can find just the food bars themselves for like $12 on Amazon so for just $3 more your getting the extra water packets and the 1 survival blanket, so it's a good deal.

Vacuum seal broken, and sharp edges on the water packs
Maybe it was my fault, but the vacuum seal came undone on the food bars, and the water packs were pierced by each other's sharp pointed edges. I stored them in ziplock bags and boxes or bins. They didn't last any more than 1 yr 3 months. They were supposed to last 3-5 yrs. They were perfect when they arrived. I noticed the food bars lost their vacuum seal today, and months back lost the last 2 water packs to leakage. I'm glad I put them in zip locks, the water leaked everywhere. What a waste.

Kinda-somewhat a three day survival basics box?
This box is a good start to a 3-day preparedness bag but sadly there's one big problem. One box does not contain enough packs of water for 3 days. This box has one survival blanket, one 2400 calorie food ration, and six water packs of 4.225 fluid oz./125ml. Since you get six packs, you would assume you'd use two packs a day BUT THAT"S NOT THE CASE. The water clearly states a person should use 4 packs per day. So one box would only give you enough water for ONE DAY. If you buy two boxes you'll have enough water for 3 days but that's not really the point. This is an important thing to keep in mind if you are going to buy this box. The price is great at under $15 but in the end, you'll have to spend almost $30 to get enough water for three days. Other than this, I found this box to be a good deal for my purposes (making preparedness bags as gifts) 6 for under $90. I found this to be the better deal, for me, compared to buying the food rations separately since I had previously bought a box of emergency drinking water pouches from mayday (100 pouches for around $32). This way, I could add the recommended amount of water packs for 3 days per person plus extra. The boxes all arrived in a large box with no damages. Out of the six, only one was missing a blanket and the rest of the supplies were in great condition. The process to exchange the one was simple and the replacement arrived the next day. I will note that the replacement box shipped in a thin plastic bag so no real protection, luckily it wasn't damaged. The expiration dates on the boxes and packages varied only in months. I added photos of some of the varying dates as well as circled the part that says 4 pouches per person per day.
