Designed for mild to moderate overpronators, the gel-surveyor 5 shoe features our Rearfoot and forefoot gel cushioning system for strike-specific shock attenuation and a more secure upper fit. The dynamic DuoMax support system creates a stable platform upon each step to make a smooth transition between strides. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Comfort and durability
Most shoes I wear a 12 but with Asics I always have to order a 13 not complaining just a FYI moment. With that said the Gel-Surveyor 5 was very comfortable except for an area right at the bend of my toes that felt like a hump running across from side to side but after about a mile it was hardly noticeable and once I buy different insoles that should disappear totally. The insoles that came in the shoe are junk and will be replaced immediately. I look forward to breaking in the Surveyors and expect they’ll get even more comfortable. I’m 6-4 and 250 lbs. but working my weight down.

If you have high arches, this is the shoe for you.
These shoes run large, but since I bought a pair 6 months ago, I knew that. I normally wear 10 1/2 but for this shoe 10 fits great. Most comfortable shoe I have owned in years; good arches and very soft footbed. Fast delivery.

It's good, but not the top of the line from their brand
These shoes are about as average as they can get. Soft, snug, and pretty slick in terms of looks. However these are running shoes and after a 5 mile test run, they dont impress. The insoles are a bit tough and dont offer much for arch support, meaning around the 1-2 mile mark, they started to hurt my feet, so I adjusted my run form to compensate. Didn't really matter in the end, but I'm spoilt when it comes to cushioning. The traction was as much as I expected for Asics, grips and pushes forward, a little less so when moving side to side (negligible), and you can feel the full effect when you take off. The shoes are lighter than other models, which might explain why the cushioning felt harder, while more runners prefer a lighter shoe, I like a bit of weight so really that's up to your personal preferenceIt fits comfortably, which is more than I can say about other brands who offer a lot of technology in their shoes but dont offer them in my size (I have to upsize all the damn time because shoe brands dont sell them to fit my tiny feet, and they dont offer professional high grade shoes to children because they think they'll outgrow them).I can't say much about it's lifespan. They claim their shoes last 500 miles, but I tend to wear them down even further until I can feel the discomfort. They *feel* durable, but I need to wear them out for another hundred miles or soI give it 4 Stars instead of my average 3 because of the cost I paid for them ($55 + Tax), so it's pretty good for the price I paid

Comfortable arch support.
I bought this specific shoe because of it's added arch support for my plantar fasciitis. These are a nice color. They make a great running shoe and easy to go to the gym in.

Comfy, stable shoes.
This shoe fits perfectly. Very comfortable and cushy. Some reviews were critical of its soft ride, but it suites me just fine. Dry very fast. Love the “no-seam toe box constuction. Will buy more.

Good support and stability; too SOFT underfoot
Hmm, I tested these a few times and just didn't like them. They have a fit very much like the GT-2000 v.3 shoes, which is good, but my problem is that they are just too MUSHY on my feet.I like cushioning, of course, but these shoes have too much for me. The Ortholite insole is nice, but the midsole? (layer under the insole) is also Ortholite and it just squooshes too much, so you can't feel the ground and your feet hurt after a while since they are trying to find stability.I do like the Nike Zoom Structure 19 shoes, those have Ortholite insoles but the next layer under it is more rubbery/shock absorbing, so the net effect is shock absorption but a little firmness, softer than Brooks Ghost 9 but firmer than Asics GT-2000 v.4 and v.5So then if you like a lightweight, flexible shoe that has good ankle support and foot stability, but very very soft cushioning, these could work for you. They were just too soft for me. I really liked the appearance too, darn it.

The Gel-Surveyor 5 has excellent arch support and cushioning which is one of my main priorities when selecting a good running shoe. Fit is great and I can think of no cons to this shoe after wearing for several weeks.

Good shoe for the price
My husband usually runs in Kayanos, but was looking for a more budget-friendly shoe. He went with these and has been happy so far— a couple 3-4 mile runs per week. He has very flat feet and over pronates, these shoes provide a good amount of support and good cushioning, plus they feel lightweight. The only problem is they rub on his heels, which is easily fixed with different socks. If you’re a fan of the Kayanos, but looking for a cheaper option... these might be for you!

However the shoes are awesome. Very comfortable
shoes has black spots throughout on the white sole. I desperately wanted a shoe as my old one was broken. I did have time to return and get a new one. However the shoes are awesome. Very comfortable. Good for long periods of standing. Strong built. I will recommend to other but do not buy from those guys that I bought unless you have time to return.

Very comfortable.
I bought these for my husband and he loves them. He suffers with plantar fasciitis and these have helped a lot. We tried to buy another pair and they have sold out; sadly.
