After struggling to center the chuck on my old 12 inch Craftsman lathe, I decided to look for a new self-centering chuck. This chuck is remarkable. It is a heavy chuck for the size and the pinions performs perfectly to center all the jaws simultaneously. The price is very reasonable and the quality of the workmanship assures that this chuck will last many years. It holds my wood in place securely.

I purchased the 3.75 chuck based on the favorable reviews and hoped for the best based on the affordable price. I wasn't disappointed. The chuck is just as good quality ( better in some respects) as the one I own from a "name brand" that cost me almost twice as much. Runs true on the lathe and is solidly built. Gearing and jaws action is smooth and it grips tight. If you're thinking about buying this chuck, you'll not be sorry.

Good beginner quality chuck. I’d rated this as on the higher end of Chinese made products. Seems like good steel was used. The gears are not as smooth working as some higher end chucks but they get the job done. Considering the price of higher quality chucks, you cannot beat this one for value received.

First off, I love that I didn’t have to overpay for a good quality gear chuck! Second, I love that it fits perfectly on my WEN benchtop lathe! And best of all, it holds its grip well! Was absolutely drenched in grease in the box so no worries about rust. A little excessive really as there were grease spots on the outside of the box, but I guess better safe then sorry. The ONLY downside is that sometimes the key will slip a little when tightening. The teeth of the key are not as deep as I’ve seen on other chuck keys. Overall, I really love it and would definitely recommend!

Meh- it works, but I've found that the Wen chucks I've picked up after this one are MUCH better. This type of chuck key is a real pain to tighten well and loosen up- constantly slipping... at some point, I would guess that it will strip out.

Very nice small chuck. Holds turnings securely. Tightens and releases easily. Would recommend for mini lathe usage.
