Also yes, this can be used for solely indoor measurements.

Does this thermometer hold the high/low memory until reset?

It keeps high and low values for both inside and outside until you clear them. Each one of the four values can be reset independently. It holds the values until they are reset or you change the batteries or a new max or min occurs. Unfortunately there is no time function so you do not know when the max or min happened.
