I am really pleased. Wish it was hard cover. Well written and an enjoyable read. Excellent subject matter.

This is the updated version of the original book and is an excellent book on the subject. Lots of details, lots of history, and use of the carbine. I highly recommend this book if you have one of these carbines.

I received the model 5 Burnside Carbine from a friend and this book was extremely helpful in learning about this gun. It provided a great history of the evolution of the 5 models and the history of the company. Also gave me needed info of the operation of this gun.

Well researched, highly detailed as to evolution of the various models and government contracts and deliveries. But I was hoping to find some data as to comments from the field by users of Burnsides. My copy of the author's earlier volume on Burnsides wasn't readily available so perhaps such information was found there, although it would have been appropriate to have included some such information in this updated volume. Also, a chart showing serial number allocations to the various models would have been useful as a quick reference.

My father bought a Burnside carbine and I happened on this book and bought it for him. He is very pleased with it and it is very well written and full of information on a very obscure but very important historical firearm. You are lucky to find a book dedicating more than a few pages to this rifle, to find a full length well written book was a perfect find. Thanks to the author and the seller

Well written documentation for a mid 19th century weapon that was a head of its time.Gave me much information on my original Burnside carbine.

An excellent book, however I was disappointed with the allocation details of these to their units, that I was given to understand from else-where was quite detailed. That said, if the information is not available it can't be included. An interesting and informative book, and more competitively priced than the 1st. issue hardback.

This is the must-have book for anyone who owns a Burnside.
