Never used Bondo before, easy to work with, fixed a damaged Porsche fender perfectly!
I've never worked with Bondo before in my life. I decided to fix a fender on my Porsche that had some minor damage. I got quoted a minimum of $1750 to fix a simple ding on a fender. One Autobody shop quoted $3800. Because it is a modified Porsche I must get "noob" prices. I watched a couple Youtube videos, which took about a whole 25 minutes, then spent another 2-3 hours mining away in "Bondo" talk on Reddit..after a quick afternoon ...I learned the "difficult" job and fixed the damage perfectly. Bondo is amazingly strong and is very easy to work with. The mixing ratio seemed vague so I went with 8 drops per 3-4 grams, on wax paper on top of a scale. Since I was in the garage with the door closed and it was late, I figured I could do this in my underwear since the garage was hot (it's summer). Working with Bondo produces a strong smell, so I decided to wear a filter/rebreather mask as well. My wife walks in to check on me as I am in my underwear, with a gas mask, using a scale to measure some drops on some gooey glop on wax paper at 2am. She said, "What are you...Walter White?". Mixed Bondo on wax paper, use "folding" action to mix it. Used these Spreaders, mostly the large one Dynatron 358 Spreader Spread it around to make it flat as possible, very akin to spreading icing on a cake. The bondo gets hard and tacky fairly quickly, within 1-2 minutes, so don't dawdle. Let it dry. Don't rush it. I let it dry 24 hours. I chose to wet sand it, even though nowhere recommended it...or said not to. I chose to do this to keep the dust down. It worked perfectly. I used 400, then 600 grit and hand sanded it. I went up to 1200 grit and thought it was smooth enough. This took me 3.5 hours because I am meticulous. At this point I was done. You may choose to paint your own car at this point. I am not that brave with my Porsche. Dropped it off at an Autobody shop and they charged a very fair price to paint the fender. 10/10 would do it again.

Its really good stuff...dries rock hard pretty quickly.
Can is 4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches wide.Yes a bit pricey but so is the other leading brands. This stuff dries hard as a rock...you really dont need much hardener...its a clear liquid(the hardener)so a bit tricky to use but just use an amount equal to whats in the can....so 1/4 cans worth of bondo..use 1/4 of the tube.Mix it up...you dont have to mess with it fold it over 10 times and its done....its going to harden..dont worry.... it is a bit hard to sand when put on thick but thats what grinders are for...lol.Again its solid as a rock...i cant attest to longevity.I fill big rust holes with spray styrofoam...and then knock it back a little then fill with this bondo.I have fixed big holes in rocker panels this way with good results. Not perfect mind you but from 10 feet away you cant tell and it passes inspection.

Works as advertised plus!
This is a product that has proven its worth over many years. It has many applications that differ from its original purpose, such as use in restoring areas where metal body parts need to be returned to their original profile after crashes.

metal is the best
Metal reinforced is the best body filler and the price has come down through the years. For cracks and holes in plastics and bumpers use the fiberglass reinforced filler. After applying primer and if pin holes show up use Bondo's glazing putty then prime the putty. Never apply body fillers over paint. Unlike body fillers glazing putty can be used over primer and Bondo glazing putty is the only solution that dosent need to be mixed with a hardener. Dry sand the body fillers with 400 grit paper dont wet sand the filler. For larger areas you will need a long board then attach the sand paper to the long board. I never use electric sanders

Bondo newbie finds success
Fair warning- Until I ordered this product, I had never used bondo before. So here's my lessons learned. First, auto body workers are genius artists and I now understand why body work costs so much lol! This product sets up quick and needs to be mixed in very small batches because a little goes a long way. Try to be precise in spreading it, because you'll be sanding alot later if you don't. I used the mesh adhesive panels to cover a couple of rusted out holes in the legs of my patio furniture. Follow directions and have a credit card sized mixing utensil to fold it in. They have a package of these for sale. Just buy them. Also have a little disposable mixing board, whether a scrap of wood or plastic. It will be ruined when you are done, so just be aware of that. Make sure to remove all rust beforehand so you don't have to do the job again. Wear a mask when sanding, because the dust is fine, and use in a well ventilated area. It takes paint well once dry and thoroughly sanded. If you need more than one pass, do thin layers and sand after each one if you need to build it. Don't glop it on and think you'll get a good result. Patio chairs are now fixed, and I saved 300 bucks over buying new ones.

Good stuff but why half full?
Stuff works great but I’m giving it 3 stars due to it being half full. Either make the cans smaller or fill it up. I’m cool with paying more for a full can.
