My Nintendo Wii console had been offline for a good couple years. I honestly thought my Wii was kaput. But then, I discovered my Wii wasn't as dead as I thought when I tested it with the wires of one of my friends' Wii console. My guess is that my cats ruined the wires as they hung too close to the floor (not all my cats were housebroken). So, I ordered a replacement power cord and motion sensor bar for my Wii as soon as I could. I would have ordered a replacement AV cable cord as well if I hadn't noticed this Wii HDMI converter (and other adapters like it) in the item recommendations. To my great delight, it works like a charm. I'd call this an unexpected upgrade. Now, I wouldn't say the upgrade is in the picture quality, but instead in how it allows me to connect an HDMI cable to my Wii, taking up less space than an AV cable cord would. This was a very nice, convenient buy, and thanks to this item (along with the other replacement components I ordered) my Nintendo Wii lives again.

easy to hook up to convert your old wii to be used on an hdmi tv. wish didn't stick out so far on back of wii you need to make sure you have plenty of space behind it does stick out a could portion but overall works great

I was a bit sceptical about a WII HDMi converter, but it works right out of the box. The only problem I have is sometimes the video signal will turn strange colors when turning on the unit, and I have to unplug the cable and insert it in again to reset the video when you have it hooked up to an HDMI switchbox. If it's just hooked up directly, the signal never gets strange. So keep that in mind oif you are using an HDMI switchbox.

I have heard a lot of bad about these things, but I decided it was worth a try, and I'm glad I did, it makes it easy to connect it to most modern TVs, as some have mentioned you need an upscaler for 4K but if I could afford a 4K TV I could surely afford an upscaler as well. I have bought three of these now, two white and one black, each one has worked great out of the box. Will update this review if any fail, but fingers crossed! Don't forget to switch video out on the Wii to 480p! If the wii2hdmi device fails in this situation though, you won't be able to see anything unless you have a set of component (not VGA) cables and a compatable display.

I have an old wii that I soft modded a while ago I had it hooked up to a crt but I wanted it on my monitor at my desk so I can play my games in widescreen in the comfort of my nice office chair. (My monitor doesn’t have any av ports nor do I have an av to hdmi adapter) Que the wii2hdmi.. this baby is a lovely little doo-dad that breaths new life into my old wii, I didn’t even know the wii was capable of putting out a picture quality this clean it looked THAT good. AND it was super easy to “set-up” if you want to even call it that… it’s plug and play baby!! All you really need to do is turn on widescreen from within the wii. The only and I mean ONLY issue I have with it is it can have some weird scaling issues with my monitor (1440p) where it has black bars all around it, but that’s honestly not even a big deal if you know how to play with scaling.. it’s only a problem if you plan on doing this to a completely unmodded system. Anyways, I definitely recommend this thing to anyone who actually likes the wii and would even recommend this to hardcore purists who still play on crts since it does give out a cleaner signal (that is if you can plug an hdmi into your crt lol)

There's no noticeable difference in sound or visual quality aside from a natural difference in graphics due to the wii being made before HD tvs were made. Fits snug, doesn't shift at all. I lay my console down to avoid thermal paste shifting and causing overheating so it's not hanging out or anything. This was the second thing we tried after a cord that was the wrong port type and it works great for cheap. It did arrive late because of usps delaying it but eh.

Must buy if you need to use Wii on your new television set which do not have RCA ports. This doesn't come with HDMI cable so that is all you need along with this to be able to use Wii on your new smart TV.
