Bad start to the relationship, but wow did they make good...
So this review begins on a bad note. I really, really needed a new wallet. My old wallet was pilfered from a young elementary school student who carelessly left his wallet (no cash, just a school portrait cutout with no address nor phone numbers) at my place of employment. Having no wallet at the time (don't ask), and after "aww"ing a little at his adorable elementary school picture, I regarded my discovery with an envious eye. Having no method of contact, and waiting a period of 60 days for his return, I one day callously emptied the contents of his wallet. After reflecting briefly on these coldly discarded pieces of this careless young boy's life, I gleefully placed my homeless cash and credit cards into my new wallet.Unfortunately, it appears that this young child had chosen to go with a wallet of very poor quality. It was either that or bad karma that caused this wallet to quickly deteriorate. And so began my hunt for a new wallet. Where would I acquire a worthy new money carrying accessory? The mall? The local shop? The next unsuspecting, careless boy with an understandably cheap wallet?NAY. I went to Amazon to find my wallet successor and lo and behold, when this wallet and I first laid eyes on each other, I felt love in the damp, apartment air. Sleek, thin, stylish, additional stuff (yay free cash clip!), and a reasonable price. After waiting expectantly for endless days (two days), my package arrived! Felt curiously light! I fully expected the gold glow from Pulp Fiction's briefcase once I breached the packaging...........only to find an empty box. EMPTY BOX!!!! With my rage nearly uncontainable, with a fury that practically spewed in the form of fire from my eyes, I furiously dialed the number for Amazon customer service (the fulfillers), and let the following conversation be a warning for all Amazon customer service representative reps as to the dreadful fate that befalls those who dare to cross the Frightened Boyfriend.Rep: Hi there, my name is [Bleep], and thank you so much for being an Amazon customer. How can I help you today?Me: I ordered a product and received an empty box.Rep: Oh no, that isn't good at all. Give me just a moment to look into this for you, ok?Me: Sure, no problem.Rep: Thanks. (a 10 second hold). Mr. (Bleep), I'm sorry about that long wait. And I'm very sorry about that error and your purchase cost has been returned to the method in which you paid. Is there anything else I can do for you today?Me: Nah, that was it. Thanks for your help!Rep: No problem, sir. I hope you have a wonderful day.Look upon my fury, all ye reps, and BEWARE!But really, I wasn't angry. Mistakes can be made under ANY circumstances, at ANY level (Look at our current President), my money was very swiftly refunded to me.....no harm no foul. The world moves on and so do I.After over a week, I had completely forgotten about this incident, quite frankly. Until one day I received an e-mail from the CEO of the manufacturing company for this wallet. He had identified the error without me ever even complaining to them directly in the first place and reached out to me. This guy very graciously offered his personal apology and informed me that he had sent, not one, but TWO wallets to make up for the mistake. All free of charge!Let me tell you guys - I've worked in customer service all my life. And I very rarely see a customer service gesture of this quality. VERY rarely. Even rarer still do I see this sort of behavior in a company's CEO without even notifying them of their mistake personally. Amazon fulfilled this order, not the manufacturer. Therefore Amazon is who I spoke to. I've literally spent nothing with this guy's company (but I certainly will in the future) and he looked out in a way that, quite honestly, really restored my faith in the integrity of today's companies.Yes, I received the wallets as compensation for a mistake, but it really had nothing to do with the number of stars in my review. I would have reviewed this wallet 5 stars for the customer service alone, but I ended up really enjoying the wallet itself!1. The leather feels nice. And has plenty of pockets for all of my cards. The pockets themselves (unlike my last wallet) are tight, but have enough give so that you don't have to struggle to insert or remove your cards. (My last Columbia brand slim wallet would try to steal my money. I'd often wish for tweezers, or a good pair of pliers to extract my precious bad habit enablers from their severely tight sleeves.2. Comes with an additional, separate money clip. But the wallet itself also has a built in, removable clip of its own (see pics). Again, my comparable Columbia slim wallet doesn't compare and failed to provide this detail. This clip is perfect for holding the money securely inside the wallet as the wallet itself is not magnetic like some other slim wallets are. If you decide to use the separate money clip, you can actually remove the wallet attached clip, which also results in the wallet being slimmer than it already is.3. The wallet reveals a creator who has an eye for detail. From the fine lines on decorative indentions on the packaging and on the wallet itself, to the inclusion of the removable money clip, to RFID - someone put a lot of thought into this. And I always do love that. This attention to detail is typically associated with quality and I assure you this wallet looks and feels like quality. Very handsome product.4. RFID. I'm not an expert, but I would consider myself a moderate techie enthusiast. It's out there. And to have this bit of protection against potential fraudsters is just icing on top of the cake. The only downside I can think of for this wallet is that it is the type of leather that manages to pick up scratch marks easily. But if you're familiar with this type of wallet leather material, then you already know that that comes with the territory. And tends to lend it a nice, attractively aged look overtime.Again, I fully concede that these wallets were given to me by the manufacturer. But remember that it was given to me after an attempted botched purchase that they pro-actively made right, even without me complaining. Just amazing customer service! Still kind of stunned, frankly! And lovely wallet. I would definitely recommend. And as I told the CEO in my response to his personal apology, he really has earned a life-long customer after this incredible experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend doing business with them!

Would be great if not for the QC issues **** UPDATED 7/23/18
****I will leave my original review, but have changed from a 1 to a 5-star for 2 reasons:1) I didn't reach out to Alpha Road directly (sorry guys), and was just going to write it off as a loss as i didn't want to have to deal with a return. Then one day out of the blue, I get a package containing a replacement wallet. I really appreciate when a merchant cares enough to read and address what their customers say.2) While greatly appreciated, that alone doesn't warrant a 4 start bump, but the fact that the replacement is completely free of the problems I had with the first one does. The finish on it is what I would expect from a more expensive product. Put this with the well-thought out design and you have a winner.I would add new pictures, but there's nothing to show as it is exactly as promised.Thank you again, Aloha Road.---------------------------------------------------------Original Review:First off, my rating is not a reflection of the quality of materials used in this wallet, but the way it's put together. The design is nice, and allows a person to carry quite a bit in a smaller (than my old) package. I went back and forth between dark brown and grey, decided on brown, then regretted it because of the problems below. I like the way brown tends to show wear, with the eventual scuffs and marks you will get on it.The problem lies in the way it's put together. The slip pockets are VERY tight, which is okay, since they will loosen up with use. However, on the inside lip they use a glue of some sort to to hold the flap of leather that wraps over the top, down. The glue on mine was still sticky. I don't know if it is supposed to dry completely, or maybe mine just had too much, but the stuff cannot be removed. It just won't go away. It can only be transferred from one surface to another. I only found it on the 2 innermost pockets and the outside ID window. We're not talking a lot, but believe me, it ended up all over.Since it was tough to slide the cards in because of how tight the pockets were, I didn't notice that it was also getting adhesive on the cards. When I did notice, I tried to wipe it away with a corner of a towel, but it just made a mess. It got on my cards, on the window, and on the outside of the wallet, which is the most annoying, as I ended up leaving splotches all over, and I still don't think I got rid of all of it. This is where I was wishing I had gotten the grey one, as I don't think it would have looked as bad.As it is, I have a wallet that looks ugly, still has some spots of adhesive on the outside which means I don't want to put it in my pocket, and is too messed up to return. I attached a couple of pics with the lip of the pocket pulled out a bit to show the glue trying to hold the pocket shut.My suggestion to whomever makes these is to not worry about the glue as all the pocket "flaps" are sewn anyways. I don't know if the rest of the pockets are glued, or maybe they just had the proper amount, as they seem fine. This just shows that it can be done, but it needs to be done consistently throughout the product. If I can find something that will remove this stuff without damaging the wallet further, I will update this review as this really is nicely designed. So for now, all my stuff goes back into my old wallet and the search continues...
