A Guide to Biltmore Estate

Was looking for a book that had pictures of the Biltmore state especially the inside this one had a few but not many

This is a nice, compact guide to Biltmore Estate. If you're planning a visit, buy it. It's a quick, fun read with many wonderful pictures. But understand that this is a guide to the estate, not just Biltmore house or even the Venderbilts. It's more a gift shop guide than a biography or a history. Still there's a lot of good stuff inside.Having visited the house several times, both day and night, I can say that the color pictures in the book set me back. They are rich and warm - almost too rich and warm. If I had one quibble it is that the photography is a bit over the top. The house was a residence and would be better served by pictures that captured this quality. IMOI would liked to have seen some architect drawings or photos of its construction, but, as I said, this is a guide. It will provide the reader with motivation to visit and/or warm memories.

Planning a trip to Asheville and will stay on the grounds. Wanted an overview of what is there and the background. This book has nice pictures and also the history of the estate and how things came to be. It provided me with insight to this family and the history of the estate. The book was 'used' but arrived in almost new condition with no tears/underlining etc.

Excellent, fairly thick book. Good to get prior to touring the estate.Once you get to the estate though, you may want to purchase the most recent guide (2012) as it shows the rooms that are currently open to the public as well as Antler HIll Village and Winery (that this guide does not have. One thing that this guide does have that the newest one doesnt is a rundown of the details for the furniture (years, style ) of the rooms . I was fortunate with our vendor as the book was nearly new, affordable and was just as described. FYI, the newest guide is sold in the estate giftshops for $15.

Ordered thru Amazon from Goodwill. Arrived in almost perfect condition. Slight wear on the jacket but was told that. A great guide. Great large color photos. If you’re planning to go visit Biltmore Estates you should get this book. If you’re like me an armchair visitor, perfect, along with the dvd also available from Amazon AND the bio of the Biltmore Estates also from Amazon.

Very informative. You learn more from this book that you would simply by visiting the house. I would recommend reading the book prior to visiting to have a better understanding of what the estate offers before you get there. It also helps you enjoy the tour a little more if you have some basic knowledge prior.
