Works well... with wax paper. Approximately 4.5 inch diameter burgers, wish it was bigger.
It's a burger press. There's not much to explain, but here goes. I weigh out my individual meat portions, use Norpro square wax paper on bottom and top, and press, done. You now have a raw burger patty. The wax paper helps release the burger from the press, and it keeps the burgers from sticking to each other, if like me, you stack them on top of each other. Even if I don't freeze the burgers for later, I usually keep them in the freezer while I get the grill ready. I prefer to make 6oz (1/3 lb) burgers, so, I use the 1/4 lb side of the press plate. The burgers come out at approximately 4.5 inches in diameter. I would like it if the diameter was a little larger. As other reviewers have mentioned, on the inside of the cover is a small dome for creating a dimple in the center of the patty. I think that if you press the burgers compact enough, and use lean enough meat, the dimple is kind of overrated, but it's there if you are a dimple fan. As far as burger size shrinkage goes, I think a larger diameter press would address any potential size loss issues. The press is three parts in total. All parts are plastic. The handle attaches to the top part by way of a bayonet style fitting. All parts are molded, so, no meat gets up into the handle from the inside. By removing the handle from the cover, you are able to thoroughly clean all parts. When pressing the burgers, I prefer to keep one hand clean from the raw meat, that is the hand that I press with, then there are no worries about getting meat on the outside of the cover. (That is not to say that you still shouldn't use proper kitchen clean up, and sanitizing practices to prevent contamination.) I give this product a 4 star review, even though there are some things I would like to see changed. It is a simple kitchen tool that works well... with wax paper. If you have read the reviews and still choose to complain about your patties not releasing because you didn't follow the advice of other reviewers, that is on you. Unless you are making a hundreds of burger patties at one time, this is an inexpensive kitchen tool that will give you consistent burgers.

Quick and easy
This saved me so much time when trying to get dinner ready for hungry kids. The press is double sided. I used the 1/4 pound side and it worked great. It was a little difficult releasing the patty from the press, but it may just take a little more practice.

Perfect Burger
Easy to use to make the perfect burger! Very easy to clean after use and it doesn’t take up much room in my storage area. Very light weight and dirable

Great for making Patties but Use Parchment Paper
This makes great patties, but you have to use parchment or wax paper otherwise they stick. Instead of stuffing the meat in the top, I weigh my patties and make a semi smashed patty, then put a piece of parchment on the bottom of the press. then put the semi smashed patty on, then another piece of parchment on top and make my patty. It even gives you a dimple in the top of the burger patty. Hint: don't use the little handle on top to press down, put your hands one on each side of the press then press down you will get a much more even patty.

Hated it.
It makes the patties too large in diameter. You need a scale to weigh the meat first, otherwise if you cram it with meat and push down - (which requires A LOT of pressure if it's full) - it produces a burger that is way too big for 1/4 lb. 1/2 lb is of course even bigger. It's like a cake, it's so big. I'm used to making patties quickly with my hands. This thing slows me down. The wax paper has to be cut to size and can only be re-used 2 or 3 times before it gets too sticky and you need to cut some more. I do not recommend this. I am considering sending it back but will wait for a digital scale to come in the mail. I appreciate that it can make patties the same height. This is hugely important for grilling. But if the meat quantities are different the height is different. You need a scale. (But if I have a scale I can form the patties myself much faster). Probably a mistake buying this as it really just slowed me down and used more meat than I needed. I could have made about 8-9 patties using my hands from a big packet of meat, but instead this gave me about 5. The removable knob is annoying because it comes loose when you're pushing down to form the pattie. I don't quite understand the purpose of the knob coming off. There are no instructions with this product so read the reviews to learn how to use it.

Works pretty well, but did not hold up
At first I really liked this press - it works pretty well if you use wax paper discs on the top and bottom of the patties. WIth lean meat like 93/7 beef it is super easy to use. Anything with a higher fat content becomes a problem due to the stickiness - the meat would not come out of the clear part, even with wax paper. Breakfast sausage or italian sausage - forget it. The clear plastic handle attachment part broke on mine, so the handle won't stay on. I was holding the top in my hand shaking it trying to get the patty to come out and it just snapped and flew across the kitchen. I like how easy this is to clean, and the consistency. I also like the "dimple" it makes in the meat - patties I made with this press seemed to hold their shape well if I started them with the dimple facing up. I wish it would have lasted.
