Malone MPG585 EcoLight Kayak Trailer | 14' / 400 lbs Capacity | Fully Submers...

I am not a professional but I easily put together all the parts to create a solid trailer with max 400 lbs capacity. I had a simple problem with wrong nuts of the wheels but the manufacturer sent me the correct ones in just one week. The instructions were very easy to understand and follow. The registration in the state of Florida went very smoothly. Very satisfying with my trailer.

Used for kayak. Pulled down paved road, dirt road, and bumpy gravel road. Also highway at 65MPH. All good scores. Assembly- instructions suck. I used a YouTube video and it was near perfect. Slight changes to video and was easy to do. Only one person. Took about 4 hours working slow and comfortable. Parts bag not labeled but easy to determine what nut and bolts to use. No spare parts. Had to buy locking nuts for lights because supplied 1/4 20 vibrated off. Fenders are plastic but good quality. Tongue and hitch- chain hooks are pretty big and won’t fit her Kia supplied mount. The push lock is not very smooth but hope with wear it will loosen up. She can’t lock it on the ball. I’ve loosened it with the nut on bottom but it’s still very hard. Afraid she’ll cut her smooth hands! Delivery- came quickly and well packaged. I think it was four boxes. They were all heavy, but I could move them myself. Backing and driving- trailer pretty much tracks with her rear wheels on Kia. For me, backing was easy but she needed to practice never pulling a sport trailer.

This trailer took me 6 hours to put together with no power tools and a Craftsman mechanics tool set. The lock nuts make it challenging due to the fact Hand tightening parts is not possible. Overall I am pleased with the trailer and the design. However, I am going to buy a bow stop for the bow of my Oldtown 120 so I know it is fully seated and level after each use. Furthermore, I added a Malone drop roll wheel that I am fairly happy with. I added a NK180Pro and look forward to fishing bigger lakes and finally using a boat ramp. Thank You Malone for a good product. The instruction book was fairly good and the registration packet was appreciated. Overall, this trailer is pretty amazing. I recommend this product especially for large over sized kayak owners.

This trailer came to me in several boxes. After opening the boxes, the parts were identified by numbers, and the process of assembly was fairly simple. One suggestion, use ratchet wrenches for faster assembly. After some trial and error, I was able to adjust the runners for my kayak to sit on. I am well pleased with this trailer. It pulls so easily behind my vehicle. My kayak is 14 feet and sits very well on the runners. The trailer is lightweight but does not bounce around while on the road. The trailer stand works great, and the entire trailer is made of quality materials. The only regret is I wished I had sprung for the bigger wheels. You would need to choose the model that will accept bigger wheels. I feel now that the choice would be worth the difference.

Took me the better part of at least 4 hours to put together. But it was really fun doing it. A few people stated they didn’t get enough nuts and bolts to put it together. I know where they are talking about. You are putting together the frame. But all the nuts and bolts are in one bag. When it comes time to add the fenders, you are out of the hardware needed. You look into the other packages that came with the frame, but none will work. So you think you’ve been short-changed, but no you haven’t. If you look in the box where the fenders come in. It has its own bag of nuts and bolts just for the fenders. I did add the Seasense PWC Jack Stand to the tongue. It’s a must add-on. The electrical was easy. It wasn’t thin wires that needed to be cut/stripped. These were insulated and cut to length with connectors already added on the wires. All you basically do is plug and play. The frame has holes on top and bottom of each frame member, so you don’t have to worry if you got it facing right or not (idiot proof). All in all. I love this trailer, and its easy to put together yourself for your kayak

Don’t buy from Trendsauto. We have had so many issues with this product. First it was missing parts bag, they took forever to ship us another parts bag and made us work it. Then we couldn’t register the trailer because they had the invoice and title in different company names. We finally registered the trailer and put it together to discover that the final parts bag is for another trailer. We have waited two days for them to respond. You have to speak to them through the Amazon message center. It is like playing broken telephone. It is now Wednesday and we need the part by this weekend to go on our trip . We have rescheduled twice because of all these issues. We even reached out to Malone, they also refused to help. This was an expensive purchase. I expect better customer service. They don’t care!

Been hauling my OldTown 106 Minn Kota on this trailer for several years. No problems ever. I enjoyed the challenge of assembling myself using the directions. Had a small problem making sure the tail lights maintained a ground. The trailer with kayak is light enough to pull by hand. The only modification I will eventually make is devise a way to lower the carpeted rails to make loading at the launch a little easier. I had a concern with a different product by the manufacturer and they immediately send a replacement item. Very reliable and quick customer service.
