Exxxcellent Adapter!
Bought this adapter (DEC 2013) to use with my Duromax XP4400E generator (purchased 2010). Had previously been using 2-120v outlets to run test appliances up to 1400w total, with gennie-switch set on 120v. Y-Adapter plugs in fine (it IS heavy duty!) into the L1430 plug, gennie switch set to 240v, lights on two splitter 120v ends lit up perfectly. Ran two separate "legs" of (a)1325w and (b)1350-1500w from the 2 plugs of the Y-Adapter. This adapter is AMAZING. Taking full advantage of the generator's power is critical. I did NOT attempt to max-out its potential of 1750w per "side" (3500 running watts total.) At one point the gennie really groaned, and "loaded-Up" until I stabilized the load, but then ran fine. That's the generator, not the adapter. If you really want to take full advantage of your generator's potential power using its 30-amp L1430 plug, get one of these adapters. The locking plug is essential if you're using a gen-cord-to-transfer switch, but using this adapter and heavy duty (12 ga.) extension cords and power strips will provide for portability, and maximum-emergency-power use. Wattages were monitored using Reliance AmWatt meters THP103 (yup, Amazon,) on each leg, allowing for balancing of the load, which is very important. This Y-Adapter works, and allows you to max-out the power potential of your generator's 30-amp L1430 plug. I highly recommend it. I hope I never have to use it. Better to have it, and not need it.... Great Product! Thanks Conntek! Thanks Amazon! UPDATE: 3/16/14: Well... I had to use it... And I'm glad I did! The central Wyoming blackout of 3/14-15/2014 went on for 7 hours. Seems a "critter" crawled into an electrical sub-station, got "fried," and turned out most of the lights across the entire town!... After the first 30-minutes of no lights, I thought "OK, here we go!" Fired up the gennie, plugged in the Conntek Y adapter, ran my extension cords, and never worried about the loads. Freezer, wood stove & some lights on one side, fridge and some lights on the other. Never a whimper... Sure glad I bought it... Peace of mind... Full generator power... When you need it the most! Thanks again, Conntek... And Amazon...! UPDATE: 12/11/14:: Price has jumped $2.00 in one year from $29.12 to its present. If you're thinking about it, ya better get one now, before they're all gone, or out of your price range. jus sayin'....

Well Made
If you have a 220 generator this is a must. I can operate two more power tools at 110 rather than having to plug in and out all the time. I marked one line for when I switch the generator to 110. Well made and worth the money.

Ultra heavy duty and very soft rubber
I bought this to gain 2 aux outlets on my generator, it not only worked wonderfully, but is such a great and easy to have tool i am getting a few more for the future. The cord is exactly as it looks, short but long enough to flex around and even tie your extension cord on to the end to prevent falling out. Without tearing it apart the jacket are a little over 1/2" thick so i completely thing they will handle well over 30amps, the twist lock is firm and overall the rubber feels strong and flexible. I am using this with a few ridged twist lock extension cords on a 240 single phase circuit to gain 2 extra outlets for large outdoor lighting systems.

Use your whole generator
This cord/splitter item is critical to make full use of many 120/240V home use generators. Say you have a 5000 Watt 120/240V generator. This means it has two separate 2500 Watt 120V windings. Many generators give you a single 240V outlet and two or three 120V outlets. However, all the 120V outlets are wired to the same winding on the generator. So if you only plug in equipment to the 120V outlets, you really only have a 2500 watt generator. If you load it up with too many connected items, it won't stall... but the single 120V winding in use will eventually melt/fail. Using this L14-30P 4 prong plug with 2 - 120V outlets allows you to use the 240V outlet on your generator and convert it to two 120V oulets, but each one is now connected to a different winding on your generator. You can take power from both windings in your generator and use the unit to its full capacity. Using this cord with a couple of "triple taps" would allow you to plug in 6 household items and spread that load evenly over both windings in your generator. Ace Heavy Duty Triple Tap (FA-148/15) Is it unfair that you have to buy this somewhat (~$25) expensive (but very sturdy) "cord" to fully utilize your generator that you paid so much for in the first place ? Maybe so....but at least it solves the problem easily! You can check your generator's owner manual to see if all the 120V outlets are attached to only one winding. Some more expensive units may have 120V outlets on both windings. However, I have a fairly expensive Yamaha 6600, and all my 120V outlets are on one winding / one breaker. I had built a homemade cord to perform the same function, but this item looks more professional and is more sturdy. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors who may have bought themselves a nice generator, but may not be utilizing it to the fullest extent, or are facing damage by overworking just one of the windings.
