Makes great porridge!
I grew up eating oatmeal at least once a day, made by my Northern Irish grandfather. He used Quaker rolled oats because that is all he could find in the stores. In years later I 'graduated' to Irish steel cut oats, then Bob's Red Mill oats. Red Mill is a very good oatmeal, but Hamlyn's is the best. It has a nice oat flavor and a smooth, creamy texture. It cooks in less than five minutes after bringing it to the boil. My formula is one part oats, three parts water and scant salt, so you can make as much, or as little, as you want. I find a 1/3 US cup of oats to be about right. Great oatmeal, easy and quick to prepare.

A bowl a day… : )
This is the best tasting oatmeal I’ve eaten since I was about 7 or 8 years old—so, close to 60 years ago. The brand was the one with the smiling gentleman on the box; so I’d venture to say that back then, oatmeal was made the old fashioned way—and it wasn’t from Scotland! :) But thankfully I can purchase authentic oats through Amazon/Whole Foods, and other sources.

Hamlyns Scottish Porridge with Bran
I’ve had Bariatric surgery and it has been quite an issue getting something that is both tasty and easy on my digestive system. I purchased the Hamlyns Scottish Porridge with bran and I’ve found my favorite breakfast. It’s healthy, it’s a great value, it’s easy to prepare and the cook time is great. I love the texture as well. My thanks to Hamlyns for a great product.

So creamy and cooks real fast
I easily would have given this product if it weren't for the poor packaging. Other customers had the same thing to say. The bag it came in was torn at the bottom and this was the case with both of the bags I ordered. How is this so? But the oatmeal is terrific. At the same time I bought several bags of the Bob's Red Mill steel cut oats. Probably the best oatmeal I have ever eaten with not much of a close second anywhere. Those oats are big and chewy and an amazing flavor. But the problem is that they need to cook for 20 minutes. When I get hungry I need to eat something Right Now. They are super easy to cook. Add the oats, add the water, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Then you will have a revelation. Seriously. But, the nice thing about these oats is that they cook in 3-4 minutes. Much better. They are still steel cut oats but are cut into much finer pieces. There is even some powder in the mix. They do need a little extra attention- add the water, add the oats and bring to a boil and stir vigorously for a few minutes. Not that much work. Then I covered the pot, turned off the heat, left the pan on the burner and came back a few minutes later. Wow. Nice and creamy, still a little chewy, easier to eat than the Bob's oatmeal. And plenty of very delicious flavor, just not a intense as Bob's. I will probably buy both again, but I may end up eating these more often. Just a side not here: On some level these do not even taste like oats. My whole life I have eaten Quaker style rolled oats and I associate that taste with oatmeal. These almost taste like a different grain, the taste is so much different. Definitely a superior product

Unreal
So good! I wish I could afford to eat this wonderful porridge everyday. Not your ordinary oatmeal. No comparison to Quaker (glyphosate) oats. You need more water to cook but delicious!

It is not bad, but…
It is too thin, too crumbled. It tastes not bad, but the texture is not my favorite.
