Hongdian 517D Matte Black Fountain Pen Bent Nib Fude Pen, Warrior Series, Classic Design with Converter and Metal Box

The pen is a nice all black color with a rubbery feeling that is easy to maintain a grip on, and not slip out of the hand. The pen is of average size, easy to hold, and of well built metal construction. It is a pleasure to use and write at whatever pace one writes at.

This is a fantastic pen. I love the feel of the PVD coating when I am writing, it adds a bit of comfort to a writing session. The fine nib on this pen writes wonderfully. I have been trying it out on all different types of paper. It does really well on fountain pen friendly paper (ie., rhodia, clairfontaine, tomoe river), but it also does well on not so fountain pen friendly paper (ie., cheap copy paper, regular notebook paper). The nib is also nice and smooth on most papers, although with the copy paper and some of the regular notebooks I have noticed a small amount of feedback. But there is no scratchiness at all. I like the trim on this pen, and would have to say that it kind of looks to me like it is gunmetal in color as opposed to black (but that may be a personal opinion). I also like that there is a minimal amount of branding on the pen. If you look at the pen you will find who made the pen easily, but it isn't stamped all over the pen or in great big letters it is very discreet. Overall, I would have to say that this is a great pen, and a great addition to anyone's fountain pen collection or as a pen gift for a beginner. The metal gift box also makes it easy to give as a gift.

Very nice pen for the money. Black metallic tip looks nice, slightly rubberized matte outside makes it nice to grip. Nice piston. No sharp edges on the clip. Good heft for a desk pen. Neutral: The fine tip is quite stiff. Much stiffer than a LAMY or Kaweco. Negative: The cap doesn't stay on at all in the post position. Not a big deal as the pen is heavy and long enough without it, except that it's very annoying when you forget it doesn't stay on there and then it falls off.

This has been my all-time favorite fountain pen of all time! The flow is so immaculate and consistent so I've never had an issue with blotches or skips in the writing. I have bigger hands so its a hair on the smaller side but the fit is still amazing with the cap on the end and its super light. The refill function is super straight forward and easy to use along with being able to use it whenever wherever.

A great budget pen! It has an easily grippable matte finish and attractive glossy nib; it's intuitive to use. The nib writes smoothly and has no issues with ink delivery, and I have had no trouble with ink leakage at all - and the included adapter is fantastic! A great package for someone starting out in fountain pens, or who just wants a reliable daily driver.

Bought this fountain pen to replace a Cross pen that used cartridges, and ran dry every 3 or so lines. This pen is very nice to look at. It is sleek and elegant, and the soft finish makes the pen easy and comfortable to hold. The weight and balance seem perfect also. I have the fine bib, and was concerned that the writing would be too fine. That is not the case at all. The Parker black Quink that I bought along with it flows effortlessly, with no mess or dry spots. This pen writes smoothly and easily. Love everything about this pen!

I didn't want to drop too much money on a pen until I knew I wanted to stick with calligraphy. Did a little research and this pen was recommended often. I opted for the fude nib and I love it! Also, got some Noodler's black ink. It's waterproof in case I want to address envelopes. The pen isn't too heavy, but feels decently weighted and solid quality. After using it for a while, I think it writes like a pen that costs much more. I got it as a starter pen, but I've never felt the need to upgrade. A+++

I really like these Hongdian nibs (they have a very classic look on the paper if you have a good hand), but this is the second time the twines permanently separated within a couple of weeks (after they do so, the ink will not flow to the tip and reach the paper).
