Another satisfying and colorful Gelatos collection for all fans of the Faber-Castell line!
Colors with a subtle shine in your beloved Gelatos, can't beat them if you're a Gelatos fan! The first thing I did as usual was to try them out by making my own color chart and this collection is awesome! Some of the colors are non-metallic offered in other collections such as "Grape" and "Melon" but the metallic formula gives a sweet subtle yet attractive shine to the basic available colors. And an added benefit I like is that they're smoother and easier to blend with just your finger alone (I love that simply because I don't have to run around trying to find a blending tool - I can just use my finger and it blends so well. So far I've only used my Gelatos for stamping; spray the stamp with a mist of water, apply the Gelato like a crayon, spray another quick fine mist and stamp! What you get is a beautiful "watercolor" image that can be further blended if so desired! My next endeavor will be to slice a sliver off then add a little water to my palette tray and paint a flower or fill in a stamped image....& after that take another slice to concoct a colored spray to ink an ATC tag and design a shiny base background! These are a fabulous color medium for countless projects and the possibilities are endless. And for less than $21, this is an unbeatable deal and a dynamic way to add more color to so many crafts. (I would also recommend these for kids too, they're that versatile and easy to use - as long as said kid isn't in the "eating crayons" stage!) highly recommend and would buy again!

Gorgeous colors & extras in this set!
I love these watercolor crayons! I recently started venturing into other watercolor mediums (pencils, crayons) for fun - I'm not an artist by any means - and bought a set of 12 that were not marketed as "gelatos" (aka: cheaper) and liked them. So I found this set at a killer price and splurged...I am so glad I did! The variety of colors is wonderful and they're beyond your standard color spectrum. I do find that using a gesso on whatever surface I'm working with makes blending much easier, so for the important stuff, I add that step. I will say that, compared to the cheaper ones (not called "gelatos"), they do seem just slightly different, and I can't really say how - mainly in the ease of blending and perhaps a slightly smoother application. They look just the same, and are packaged just the same, so they very well might be the exact same product, but they act differently for me on the exact same surfaces. I only use my fingers or a brush for blending, but I like the little tools that come with this, and it's opened me up to a few new ones I wouldn't have thought about. The box is gorgeous and something you don't mind having out if that's your organizational system. Clean up from fingertips is a breeze with water.

Versatile and vibrant, but performance matches budget brand
I like this Gelatos set — the colors are vibrant, they blend smoothly with water, and they’re fun to use for journaling and mixed media. They go on creamy and layer well without getting muddy. That said, I don’t find them noticeably better than KingArt’s version, which costs less. Performance feels very similar, so while this set is enjoyable, it’s not necessarily a better value. If you want the Faber-Castell name and solid packaging, these are great. But if you’re mainly after performance, you can get the same results from more affordable alternatives.

A Gushing Review for An Awesome Supply
The review for these Bright Gelatos could be summed up in one word: PERFECTION. Since it's impossible for me to leave a review that short (seriously - I might even call myself grandiloquent...no, I wouldn't - I'd call myself a big mouth lol), I have to tell you why I find them to be totally superb. Let's talk about the color - delicious bright shades of tropical colors. These are the colors I would surround myself with in my world. I love how vivid and luscious they are. Consistency: Like a velvety lipstick, they lay down color on every surface I've tried with splendid results. It doesn't take much to create a piece that really sings - especially when water is added. Using the included paintbrush with some water will allow you to move these yummy creams around your project with incredible ease. Adding a little water will just turn these into succulent watercolors - adding more water will allow you to achieve the "washed out" look that is so popular right now. (See my photo of the house I made with these.) The included paintbrush: LOVE the quality! Usually brushes that are included with a kit (of any sort) are awful...but this one isn't. I really do ADORE it! I have used it for so many things. It's my favorite brush and I get small panic attacks when I think about how I'll get along when it's done. Hasn't lost a single hair, is firm, but not too firm, picks up the perfect amount of water...ahhh. I love this thing! Versatility: Gelatos will work on just about any substrate you're pondering. You also have tons of options when it comes to putting them on the substrate...slice of a little and put it in some water in a spray bottle and mist it on your project. Apply directly from the tube. Use a paintbrush. Use a wet paintbrush. Use a cotton bud. A tissue. Your finger. A palette knife. Dauber. Sponge. It's late, I'm tired and not feeling creative right now - but you get the idea. Gelatos are fantastic for experienced artists and newbies alike. They are my new favorite supply - which says a lot. (My house is like a mix of Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Dick Blick combined....but only because I would need the square footage of all three of those stores to properly store all my supplies!) Workable fixative seems to hold these in place, although I have to say that I haven't noticed any color change when adding another wet medium AFTER these have THOROUGHLY DRIED. I also like to use a combination of clear gesso and clear varnish (in a thin coat) to make sure everything stays the same on a prior layer, while adding some tooth for a new layer. If you are looking for an amazing colorful supply, CLICK BUY!! What are you waiting for? Oh - and these also come with two sponge wedges (like make up applicators) - one soft and one hard. If these things would make me coffee in the morning, I would so run away with them.

Beautiful bright rich colors
I initially ordered the Gelatos because they appeared to be versatile in their uses, including wet and dry use, smudgable with a finger and produce bright color. They can be used with stamps, used to color over images in art journals, to create beautiful backgrounds for cards or journal pages, add touches of color to mixed media paintings and it's possible to cut a bit of the product off the tip, put in a small spray bottle with water and create color sprays. The set of 28 is a bit pricey, but I'm happy with the results I'm getting in my own art journals and mixed media pieces that I feel they are worth the price for me. Faber-Castell also has many smaller kits with new colors so that you can keep adding to your collection. I think any crafter or artist would find good use for these colorful pigment tubes. Their consistency is similar to lipstick or chapstick, they glide on substrates nicely, and they can be layered with other products (especially the Faber Castell big brush markers). The brightness of the color was a real draw for me. They don't feel particularly greasy once on the page, but I do spray workable fixative over them to insure the color stays put when I start layering other media.

Amazon Resale Purchase
Brights: High quality but I ended up with Metallic Grape instead of Passion Fruit. But I did buy on Amazon Resale so that might be the reason it was marked down. Side note: The Brights set isn’t marketed as UV reactive but 4 of the colors do glow. Especially Orange Soda & Limoncello. A nice bonus!
