I continually try to distance myself from as much plastic as I can. Not to mention, landfill items. It's always nice to find something I can re-use and for a lifetime. It fits my size glass mugs and glasses. It's not a tight fit nor does it seal, but that's not why I bought it. It fits well enough to retain the heat for steaming tea or keeping coffee warmer a bit longer. It stays on the mug or glass so I can carry it without it falling off. It's attractive. I've been using it several times every day for a couple months now and no sign of rust, but I've not put it in a dishwasher. My only (mild) complaint is it sometimes might feel a bit hot, so I am careful to pick it up by the little nob. That would be the only place I might like to have a bit of insulating silicone. However it's not often too hot to the touch, and not that hot, so it's just as well there is no plastic anywhere. The less plastic to pollute our lives and planet, the better.

Love it! Cold beverages...not a problem. Hot tea/ coffee, the hotness builds steam under the lid and condensation collects under the hood. You need to anticipate a wet shower when you lift for a sip. Keeps hot drinks warmer longer, fits a nice size mug loosely, not snug where you need to wrestle the lid free. Need to be careful as there will be spillage if the cup is too full.
