What a stunning Bible. I was blown away. It is so beautiful. I purchased it for my son, who is in 7th grade, attends catholic school, and is required to have a bible of his own. I love it so much I may just give him my older one and keep this for the home. Well worth the price. It looks as if it cost more than purchased for. I purchased it in black. I highly recommend this Bible. It would make a beautiful gift for someone. I still can’t get over how beautiful it is. As for the pages inside, font is clear, bigger than the standard small font in most bibles. Don’t hesitate to purchase it. Beautiful!

Although I'm not a particularly religious person, I set a goal for myself to read the entire bible for a few different reasons. I didn't have one myself so I got online to find one. My main criteria was it needed to be easy to read and correct with the translation. In my research for a Bible I learned about the difference in translations and was a little wary of what choice to make. I was raised Catholic so I determined the NABRE to be the one I was looking for. Once I decided on the version to get it came down to readability. The criteria for this was font size, font type, and physical traits of the book itself. The cover is a very good, flexible leatherish material that I wanted along with the smith-sewn pages so that it would hold open to the pages on its own. It does that nearly perfectly, the exception being the very first pages at the front and back, maybe 10-15 pages each way before its holds open on its own. The font is nice with some subtle flares on some letters that make it feel just a little more thoughtful. There were a few pages that were stuck together that took some effort to separate, some tight enough that I couldn't tell they were 2 pages sometimes but once they were separated that issue was gone. It won't be a problem when re-reading it, and it's not really a problem now, just something to note. It has 2 page marking ribbons are more helpful than I anticipated. The overall look wasn't high on my criteria but it is pretty good. It has a stately, quality look to it imo. I would recommend this bible to anybody looking for a personal bible. The quality is high enough that it is pleasant to read and even encourages me to read it more often. It's not a 100% perfect but I'm 100% satisfied with it.

Amazing Bible at a great price. Faux leather cover is beautiful and soft to the touch. The gold accent on the pages looks great. The print is large and readable. Anyone who says that the text is too small, has truly debilitating eyesight. As a new Catholic getting into Scripture, this was the perfect Bible.

Do not put your magnifying glass away - you’ll need it for the Study Notes & Cross References (one of the selling points) that cause strain.

Update after the eight-month mark: I have read this Bible every single day since it came. While I have also picked up other translations here and there—I still prefer the ESV and NCB for relaxing with the NT and Psalms—I still read this NABRE here on the daily. I used to get bored with one translation, then switch to another a few days later, then switch back, but surprisingly I have lovingly stuck with this one for the past eight months. Keeping the footnotes in a separate section following each book really immerses you in the content itself and lends to hours of reading at a time without even realizing how much time has passed. As far as I know, this remains the ONLY version of the NABRE with this formatting. The pages, cover, and ribbons still look as great as the day the Bible came. Many pages have mini creases from handling them but that is to be expected. There are no tears or anything like that. The Smyth-sewn spine lays flat without any cracking or bending. The ribbons have not frayed, as they are “sealed” with a type of polish at the ends to keep them straight and tidy. Honestly I cannot come up with any ideas for improvement other than wishing they would make a standalone NT/Psalms in this same quality and format! // // // // Original review: I’ve always wanted to get into the NABRE translation but have always been turned off by the tacky St. Joseph Editions. Finally Catholic Bible Press obtained publishing rights and was able to release a newly designed version of the NABRE that has a more classic look. This Bible gets it all right: the font face is great, the paper is nice quality, no ghosting, the leathersoft feels fantastic, even the ribbons are treated to prevent fraying. This is my new favorite Bible, no contest.
